Hi everyone. I am new to quilting, I just made my first quilt.
I have been married for 40 years, have had many craft projects in the past. I have done a lot of sewing over the years, but of course it has been sporadic. I have a quilting question. I am looking to upgrade my sewing machine. The one I have is a basic White Blue Jean machine that is 22 years old. I would like one that can do lots of machine quilting, regular sewing and also embroidery as well as download patterns from the internet to the machine via USB port. What are you all using in way of a modern machine to do your projects? What do you like or dislike about your machine? Thanks for all the input. |

Hi and welcome! I have never figured out how to introduce myself on this page so I just jumped in talking to people. My husband just bought me a Janome 7700 for christmas. I love it!! It does single line embroidery but not the fill in projects and definitely does not download patterns. There was a more expensive one that did. A good idea is to find out what dealers you have around you and then go look at all of them. Read about them on the internet. I drug my husband with me and we bought the middle price sewing machine. I just felt like anything more expensive than a Janome 7700, was equal to a car purchase.

Hello Mrs.Rabbit, Welcome! Happy you joined us! I have 2 machines, a Husqvarna Viking Designer 1 and a brand spankin new Babylock Ellisimo. Both machines are awesome for all kinds of fun. I do know that most major brands of machines have a 'quilting' machine in their line. I know a lot of quilters use Bernina machines too. I am sure you will get lots of responses from more seasoned quilters. Good luck on your machine search.
