I have been using roxanne glue for my applique. I seem to keep having trouble with the applicator. This is the long tube that let you apply the glue in small dots. I keep having problem with
it clogging up. I followed a video on You tube to the tee, But
I'm still having problems. Any suggestion??

I gave up on the applicator, use a wood toothpick instead. The small point let's me control the amount and get in small spaces then throw it away when done.

I didn't like my bottle with that long tip either...

I bought a pkg of applicator tips that works with any Elmer's School House glue bottle. The glue works just as well as Roxanne's :wink:

Look where they sell the little bottles of acrylic paint, like Apple Barrel for tole painting. There will be a card with 3 metal tips and a few plastic ones too. These are less than $5 :D:D:D

I keep a long pin stored in these tips, one with a round ball top. It helps to seal the applicator, and occasionally I do soak the tip in hot water for a few minutes to clean it out well. :wink:

Use one of your grandmother's old hat pins to keep the needle applicator unclogged. It takes a fairly fine pin to fit in there but it works really well.

Roxanne's suggests not using a pin in their applicator since the long tube is metal-would rust or corrode I guess. Also they say not to rinse the applicator with water, same reason? My quilt group uses this and we do rinse with water and dry it out thoroughly.

The hat pin would certainly corrode if you left it in the applicator. I store my glue using the cap that came with it. Before I use the glue I poke the pin down the tube to insure it is clear. Before I store the glue I use the pin to clean out as much glue as possible and then cap it. I've used the same applicator for around 10 years and have no rust.

I had issues with mine and I like the toothpick idea. A whole lot less frustrating than what I went through to get that foolish thing going again!

They do suggest you use the original cap the way that LadsMom does.

Thanks, I think I'm going to use the tooth pick. I have tried to find the applicators in the (Craft Paints in Walmart with no luck) I live in a small town and all we have is walmart or kmart. Maybe when the weather gets warmer I can travel further. Well thanks everyone for your sugguestion.
