Partners will be assigned and you can contact your partner for her/his color preferences and her/his info. Please check with your partner to coordinate the quilt blocks you are both making so you won't get duplicates unless you or your partner want duplicates.

We will be making one 12 ˝“ x 12 ˝“ unfinished quilt block each month. The mailing date will be the last day of the month. This month it is Mar 31st. You will need to have your quilt block done and in the mail by then.

Let me know if you are willilng to mail internationally.

Each month we will choose new swap partners. You can join or drop out at any time. Just please let me know if you can not participate in any one month.

If for any reason you can not follow through on a quilt block to your partner please let me know as soon as possible so I may provide a substitute. Thanks!!
-------------------------

Please make sure to read the general rules that apply to all swaps here at the Quilting Board: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

Please use 100% cotton. Washing fabrics before or not is up to you and your partner.

This swap is for all skill levels. If you feel you can't do one of my Quilt Blocks but you would like to try I will be happy to help. Just pm me and I will walk you through any parts you feel you need help with.

Here are the directions for making my "Blocks" as in
Boston Blocks / Star Point Blocks / Wings Blocks / HSTs /Drunkard's Path Blocks / Kansas Dugout Blocks

Rhonda's "Block" Shortcuts using the Cut Down Method
http://www.quiltingboard.com/virtual...jsp?vsnum=1020

My cut down method makes it easy to make accurate blocks(units) that will make accurate quilt blocks.

You will need templates. I will get them out to anyone who needs them as soon as I can. Let me know as soon as possible so I have time to get them out to you. It can take up to 2 weeks to get them to Canada. International swappers are welcome but can also take longer to mail.

Most of my designs are made with 6 blocks to a row and 6 rows in the quilt block. I refer to this as a 6 x 6 grid. Or some are made with a 4 x 4 grid. There may be a few on my website that are a 3 x 3 grid, Not all of my designs on my website show the layout. So if you need a layout for a design just let me know and I will provide one.

Size of templates you will need:
For a 12 ˝” unfinished quilt block

For a 6 x 6 grid
2 ˝” for making-- HSTs / Bostons / Kansas Dugouts / Drunkard’s Path
2 ˝” & 4 ˝”(scored with 30 degree ) for the Star Points and Wings Blocks

For a 4 x 4 grid
3 ˝” for the HSTs / Bostons /Kansas Dugouts / Drunkard’s Path
3 ˝” & 4 ˝”(scored 30 degree) for the Star Point and Wings Blocks

Come join the fun and get to know new people and enjoy exchanging with friends!![/quote]

I'm sure I will.

Hmmmm....

I am considering doing this. I am a newbie, so it does feel intimidating, but Rhonda sounds so accommodating and helpful that I think I might be able to pull off a block or two :)

I am going to give this some serious consideration and look at all the links Rhonda provided.

You can do it - just take that leap of faith.

Wholeheart go to the Blocks section and try making a Boston Block. Once you have played with that then you can see how easy it is to make the Blocks. Then all you have to do is make as many of them as you need for the quilt block you want to make and follow the color placement when you make your blocks. Once you have 36 Boston Blocks made then you just sew the squares together into a Quilt block. It isn't hard it just looks intricate. The cut down method makes the tiny piecing for you! If you can follow the Boston Block then the rest of the Blocks are no harder to do. They just have slightly differant steps but the same process.

And yes I am usually here. I work at home so I am on and off here all day and evening. so if you need any help I will be happy to help. I love helping people to see the ease of the cut down method. I'm basically lazy so anything that takes the work out of quilting is my kind of quilting! LOL

Go ahead and count me in Rhonda!

This looks like too much fun to pass up. Your blocks are beautiful, and your tutorials make it seem effortless... I know I can do this and have a great time while learning some important piecing tricks.

I think Rhonda's blocks are perfect for beginners like me, and I want to highly encourage all newbies to strongly consider this swap! Rhonda's tutorials are so easy to follow and the blocks are really beautiful in the end. Really, anyone can do this, and I mean anyone!

I am looking forward to having a blast!
