good morning, i have a brothers 1500 quilting machine and i have been breaking thread every time i go to quilt. i've changed the needle ,i've changed the needle tention. i am at a loss as what to do next. the thread came with the machine and we can't buy it in our little area, so i have to try and finish it . thanks for all your help

are you threading the needle right some times that is my problem

I tend to break thread a lot on my brother as well. For me, it happens when I get in a hurry and go too fast. I think my machine is happiest in slow and steady mode. Anything faster and it rebels.

Oh, I just had this problem with my Juki!!! I had put in a needle that was too long and it jammed in the bobbin hook and threw my timing off but it took a couple of months and two repair men to find the problem!! It worked sometimes and was really hard to find. The first repair man thought I was nuts.

Make sure there are no rough spots on the throat plate or the bobbin case or hook. Tension is often to blame
|
This might sound crazy, but sometimes if you turn the spool of thread upside down and put it on the spool pin it will help the thread feed off the spool easier. There is nothing more frustrating than thread breaking issues.

I'm sure you are already doing this, but this machine loves to be oiled in all of the places that it shows in the book. I oil at least every other bobbin change, usually every bobbin change. It was mentioned to check the needle and how it is placed in the machine. This is also very important because it is different from many domestic machines. If none of the suggestions help, I would fiddle with the tension, changing very little at a time.

I have a S1500 Brother and had that problem.
When the thread goes through the tension dial, make sure you give it a little pull to ensure it is seated properly. That made a big difference for me. |
