Default "Unread" topics help

Okay, so I, like many, relied heavily on the unread topics section of our old board. In fact, I LOVED it! I just found, on THIS board, a way to at least simplify the amount of topics showing up!

Go to:
Forum Actions
General Settings

From there you can choose:
Default Thread Age Cut Off

And it gives you these options:
Show threads from the last:
Day
2 days
Week
10 days
2 weeks etc etc etc.

I know this isn't our beloved "Unread Topics" but it will at least cut down on the last 100 days worth of posts that we've already read! Now if I can figure out how to 'watch' a thread.......

Another good tip....... On the main page there are aaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllll the forums that exist. I like to consistantly read only a few. If you notice there is a green circle next to each forum list. Click that to 'subscribe' to that topic. THEN to access ONLY the forums you want, and not the whole shabang, up at the top, next to "Log Out" is a "Settings" tab. From there you can access those subscriptions as well as all the topics you have subscribed to. Just another, hopefully, helpful thing that will make this transition more familiar. I hate change. Always have. And this is one of the hardest. I wonder...... can't someone just buy the old format and we can start over back over there? lol

At the top of the thread you want to "watch," click on "Thread Tools" and select "Subscribe to this thread." You should get notified when posts are added to the thread.

I think what's confusing us is that 'Watching" a topic has now become "Subscribing" to a topic.

Default My Unread Topics solution

I was a die-hard read from Unread Topics gal. I was very unhappy to hear that it would no longer be available. I saw a post from one of our members and can’t recall who that was. Their tip was to scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Archive in the Contact Us menu bar. Then choose the Forum/Section that you want to read from. As you read the posts in that Section, your computer changes the color of it. Then you can move to the next Thread that has not yet changed color. This really satisfies my Unread Topics fix. However, I think that my computer’s cookie removal ran and they all turned to new again. Luckily I remembered where I’d left off.

Theres "whats new" under the quling board banner, this gives you recent topics, the envelopes tell you if you have read the thread, posted on it, if there are new posts since you last read it etc. To find out what they mean click settings at the top of the page, your bookmarks and subscriptions can be found here. If you click either one at the bottom of the page there is a list of what they mean.

You can go to My profile next to it for your past posts and threads you have started.
