About Adblocker Plus for Ads in Question...

For those considering using Adblock Plus, you should be aware that due to the incorporated filters (size 100MB) that the application must access for each page that you visit - this application consumes a huge amount of memory (RAM). That is something you need to consider before installing. My rig (PC) is maxxed out at 16GB RAM and I have a Core i7 3.60 GHz processor and I am not going to ruin a racing machine for the sake of blocking ads for a RAM hogging application. I will just choose to stop visiting the board and perhaps subscribe via email. The ads are due to no fault of PatriceJ, a wonderful Administrator. However, I am just saying to carefully consider the consequences of installing this "convenience" application or any other similar, at the drop of a hat. Ultimately, it is not free - there is a cost/tradeoff. Just wanted to provide some informative information to those who are interested. I always do my research as I am as much into computers as I am quilting. :)

Guess there is no such thing as a free lunch!

I did not that the application was such a "hog".

You can add memory to your laptop or desktop. I've used adblocker forever..my desktop is 2006--haven't used all my memory yet. I had memory added to an old old laptop because I was using a lot of software programs for embroidery.
Actually, I've never heard that claim abt adblockers, but you can learn something new every day, can't you?!

The ad blocker plus may hog up some space on your computer but I tell you, it's worth it. I use adblocker plus and firefox and rarely does an ad squeak through. Right now it's blocking 11 ads. I also send a donation to them twice a
year as it is free to use. Peace, Brenda

You can also eliminate most ads by disabling the 'track back' setting in your browser. This comes with disadvantages too. Some sites don't display as well without the ability to track your browser use.

been using ad blocker for years and no problems with it.

I also use Ad Blocker for Firefox on all my computers and have never had an issue other than I disable it for a few sites I visit.
