Annoying ads on iPad
For the last couple of months, my iPad has been possessed by the ad demon. Every minute or two, the App Store opens up and I have double-click the home button to get back to Safari. My ad blocker is turned on. This only happens to me on the QB. Does anyone else have this problem? I e-mailed admin but so far nothing has changed. It's getting to the point that reading the QB isn't fun anymore.
Thanks, Darren |
Look and see if you have klip ad installed

I've been having the same issue and poked around on line and ended up in an Apple forum. Seems to be an Apple related issue that we can't fix with ad blockers or pop up blockers. Something to do with app developers and the App Store.

I got so annoyed with Safari that I kicked it to the curb and D/L'd the free browser--APOLLO--from the app store. It has an ad blocker and I now use it all the time. My only gripe is having to switch to ''mobile'' mode at the bottom of the page when I want to respond on the Quilt Board. Then I just switch back again to the 'full site' because I am accustomed to the looks of the page. I dislike Safari very much!

Like commercials on tv and more and more on radio.......seems to be a necessary evil....I don't even read them just click on the big X and keep going........

This is most interesting to read because I have not been having any of the pop up ad problems on my iPad. Could it be that I have a 2nd gen iPad? I did just sign up to upgrade my iPhone to the 6Plus and iPad to the Air2 yesterday so hope it's not a glitch. Won't get the new units for a couple of weeks so won't know until then. I'm keeping my current iPad for books, etc that jam up my storage now so always have a backup, even though it's older. I'll be interested in reading about these pop ups so keep this thread going for awhile.

It happens to me also and drive me nuts. I tried going to ad blocker in the general settings but it did no good. Also, when I try to "unsubscribe" to unwanted ads, I get a notice back that says "not a good e-mail address" or something of the sort. I must have 30 of them now in my inbox. I'm saving them until I find out who to complain to. I think something I subscribed to is letting other companies in on my e-mail and they don't want me to be able to "unsubscribe".

I think I may have solved this problem. I realized my Facebook password and my password for this board are the same. I changed my password for this board, logged out, signed in with the new password and so far no pop up. Sure hope this works, it was driving me bonkers!

Change your password on the board.

I was having the same problem up until I did the update. The App Store always popped up indicating I had to the update. I did it and now it's working OK.

This is a website problem! The qb website is using an advertiser that is coding this behavior in their ads. The only way to get this to stop is asking the qb to complain about it. The website developer is allowing this nusciance.
