Anyone else have this problem?

Many times when I try to respond to a thread I have difficulty entering words and letters. I have to absolutely pound on my keyboard. I think others might have this problem because I notice random letters or skipped letters in the postings. It is only a problem for me on this board. What is the issue? Is there a techie person who could address this problem or advise the facilitators? Dang it is doing it again!

this problem is with your keyboard, not this forum. funny.

It might just be page loading times...when I am on the iPad, there are banner ads at the top of the page and that sometimes slows things down a bit which causes the page to "hang" resulting in that typing issue. On my laptop I have adblock, so no lagging.

sandy l 05-14-2015 02:51 AM

It happens to me too, but no idea why.

NJ Quilter 05-14-2015 02:54 AM

I have this issue occasionally. I think it's a matter of your browser and the site. Some days Mozilla firefox plays nicely with the site, other day's....not so much.

hairquilt 05-14-2015 04:43 AM

OMG-this happens to me all the time-If I make a spelling mistake & go back to correct it I will always have to pound on the keys too. It doesn't happen anywhere else just on the Board. Now if I misspell I just go on & then go back when I'm through & correct! LOL Good to know I'm not alone!

Crqltr 05-14-2015 04:51 AM

I thought it was just me!! Almost bought a new key board, it only happens on here!! Thanks for saving me some money!

SherriB 05-14-2015 05:16 AM

I am so glad to know that I am not the only one with this problem!!! I have just about quit posting because of it. I had to go to notepad, type a reply and then paste it. Got to be more aggravating than worthwhile. But knock on wood, it is behaving today. LOL!! Murphy's Law in effect today. LOL!!

Onebyone 05-14-2015 05:22 AM

This has happen to me before. It's frustrating. Try posting in the Go Advanced window.

kellen46 05-14-2015 07:07 AM

This happens to me all the time but only on this site. I do have ad block, so that is not the problem. I am thinking it is some glitch in the auto save feature. It is so annoying that mostly I just won't post unless I really feel the need. Too bad as I do read all the posts and sometimes may have helpful information to add to the mix.

tessagin 05-14-2015 07:37 AM

Happens to me once in a while on this site and a couple others. I just try to finish then reboot. Sometimes I just cancel the comment, reboot and comment later. I have also used a few "impact" words toward my keyboard and DH has threatened to take it away til I mind my manners!!

mjmachin 05-14-2015 07:56 AM

This also happens to me, but a while ago someone on this board had a solution and so far it is working for me.
Click on the first box on the left, right about this quick reply area. It is A/A box. Not sure what it does, but now I can type normally. Of course it does not fix the problem that I have two extra thumbs when I type!!!!!! Give it a try.

mzzzquilts 05-14-2015 08:01 AM

Go to this post, and scroll down to my solution, it's post #7. See if that'll fix it for you also. http://www.quiltingboard.com/qb-help...ml#post6789003

Yes and it is not your keyboard if it is only doing it on this site. I have it happen every once in a while, think it is when something else is running in the background or internet is dropping/slowing for a few minutes. Seems like if I get off for a while I can come back and have no issues.

quiltwiz 05-14-2015 10:35 AM

Iooiiiiiikk

Onebyone 05-14-2015 11:03 AM

To find the compatibility tab for Google Chrome, right click on the Chrome icon you use to open the browser.

lynnie 05-14-2015 11:15 AM

I too have this problem, lat week was the most recent,
one ay, a few days ago, I came on and a conversation box was here.
someone told me to hit the first A/as and haven't had the problem. it's only here I have the problem

paoberle 05-14-2015 01:25 PM

The problem is you or your computer, not this forum.

kelsunshine 05-15-2015 04:16 AM

It wants to skip about every 3rd letter for me and I have to go back and get everything it missed.
I haven't had keyborad problems with anything else but do to lack of time this is the only board I participate in.

mjmachin 05-15-2015 06:07 AM

Click the A/A key tab first.... it always works for me.

kellen46 05-15-2015 08:06 AM

If it is just us, why is it happening to so many and not on other sites?

ManiacQuilter2 05-15-2015 08:28 AM

Same thing happens with me with my 2 month old wireless keyboard.

mzzzquilts 05-15-2015 09:20 AM

Have any of you tried the a/A idea or the solution on the link that I posted? One of them should help all of you that have the problem.

This may sound really stupid but what is the a/A solution and how do I do that? I have firefox so your other idea isn't suitable. THX
peace

nygal 05-15-2015 01:47 PM

It is NOT your keyboard. It happens to me here too. I have NO idea why. Never happens anywhere else but here. It didn't always do that either.

There is a toolbar right above where you go to type your message. The first icon on the left is the a/A icon, click on that. Here's a snap showing where it's at.

That A/a tab is wysiwyg if small a (What you see is what you get)
Large A is straight HTML.

I opened the quotes so code would show. If you see the codes in the link, you are using straight code.

WYSIWYG posting is trying to put your typing into what fonts and style you have on your computer, whereas straight coding is not using your fonts and style but plain HTML.
