Is anyone else noticing a lot of old threads?

For the last couple of days my "Main"and "Pictures" first pages are threads that were started 2 and 3 months ago that I've already seen and commented on. I haven't changed anything on my settings. Anyone else seeing this?

Patti25314 09-18-2012 06:37 PM

I've noticed some older threads but see that there was been new comments made.

auntpiggylpn 09-18-2012 06:38 PM

I've noticed a lot of recent comments to older threads.

erstan947 09-18-2012 06:42 PM

I use the "archive" feature that is at the bottom of this page. The posts I have read are purple the ones I haven't read are blue. I have found this is the easiest way for me to view posts.

Any new comment brings a post up the list. Many times newer people on the board go through and catch up on what they have not seen before.

cizzors 09-18-2012 07:03 PM

Use the archives. Much simpler than wading thru old posts.

Jingle 09-18-2012 07:03 PM

I haven't seen any old post, I too go to the archive and read new postings and look at new pictures.

QuiltingVagabond 09-18-2012 07:06 PM

Yes, I have noticed that many of the posts are 3 months old in their origin - I figured it was members trying to get enough comments posts in to participate in the for sale sections?

icon17 09-18-2012 07:07 PM

Yes, sometimes. Not sure why?

mary quilting 09-18-2012 07:41 PM

Also, has anyone else noticed that the Main and Pictures section contain the majority of the same threads? When I notice that a few have gone through old posts and commented, I check the dates of the original thread and only go into Today's or Yesterday's where I can read the ones I haven't yet. Then I end up in Archives and spend more time here than down sewing.

garysgal 09-18-2012 07:50 PM

I see old posts and I also see the same questions asked several times by different people. I also use the archives.

Yes, I have noticed this lately too. So glad to hear it is not just me !

DebraK 09-18-2012 08:24 PM

I thought it was either new members getting caught up or old members getting caught up on older threads. Personally, it is fine with me--as I often miss lots and lots of threads if I get busy, or horrors--go on vacation and don't touch the computer for a few days! :)

But I can also tell which ones I've already looked at as they are purple and the others are blue.

I sorted each section that I visit in time order of the original posts, then saved the links in favorites. That way I always see the latest posts, not those that have been commented on most recently.

that's the right approach.
with thousands of new posts every day, it stands to reason we might not have time to get to every one.
if it's new to one person you can bet it's new to others, too. :)

I see no problem with older posts coming up to the front page. Most of them a worthy of a second look. Life throws you curve balls. Check the original posting date if this is a problem for you.

sunny42539 09-20-2012 07:49 AM

Yes I have.

justme CA 09-20-2012 03:39 PM

It has seemed to me the same things show up over and over as if there are not so many being added. Maybe people are using the board less and also maybe they don't know how to start a thread (that's me)?

How do you know the original date?

On the tan bar that separates each post - on the left hand side - there is a date and time shown.

MattieMae 09-23-2012 10:13 AM

I just saw a "Quilt of the Week" winner chosen from a dormant thread from 2007. People are going to add comments and questions if they see it. Hopefully the quilt makers are still active members.

lynnie 09-23-2012 10:24 AM

Yes...and go to the next page and the first part of page two is page one
