Security alert ????
For the past several days when reading the QG, I get this security alert and try as I may, I cannot clear the message from the middle of the page.
This the message which seems to apply: "the name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the same of the site". This is one of four options and this one has an alert icon at the front. The other three have green check marks. ???? Is anyone else getting this message? I only have these messages when on the QB. Please help. Thank you. |
Been getting the same, too. So bad in fact, that it's prevented me from logging-in and posting, because it won't let me post until the warning clears, and no matter how many times I click on it, it just keeps on popping up again and again.

I keep getting it as well. Any solution to this?

I've been getting the same thing too, so at least I know it's not my computer.
|
Same here.
Extremely frustrating. |
Here as well :-( Just last night I told DH I may have to no longer read the Board because of it. It tends to mess up my entire computer when this happens.

I've not gotten this, however, I often find that it has to do with browser alert settings. Browsers check sites for their security - this has security which you can see in the url with the https: that 's' is the clue. But to have security there are a lot of things that all have to work together. Images have to be in a safe place, links have to be valid and not to some virus laden ad, etc. Even the owner of the certificate has to have a valid name and address. So if your browser is looking at all of that and finding something off, it may alert you about the site. And it is looking every time you come to the board.
To resolve it in this case, you need to make sure your browser is up to date, and then you can add the website to your 'safe' list in your browser site list so it stops rechecking the security. If it isn't this, then you really want to run a virus check on your computer while NOT being connected to the Internet and see if there is a bug in your browser. There are several non-destructive viruses that just hijack your browser. Non-destructive in that they don't hurt your computer, but they grab anything you type in and watch where you're going and so forth. All not good. Hope that wasn't too much geek speak, but I'm a programmer analyst by trade, and I own an Internet based company in which I am the web tech. So I have these issues with my users from time to time and have to walk them through it all. Happy computing! |
This was happening to me last week. It only happened here on QB and it was very frustrating. Had DH take a look at that and he told me to change from MSN to Google Chrome and I haven't had a problem since.

Happy to say, it's stopped.Whoever resolved this, many thanks.

Likewise! I have had no further problems today. When I first received the "alert", I soft booted and then ran a virus scan. No viruses found. Glad the problem has been solved - hopefully!

I just had it happen again. This time, one click removed it so, here's hoping it's fixed.

I think the certificate alerts are related to the ads that show up on the quilt board. I get these alerts on my tablet and just click on 'continue' to make them go away. So far (a couple years now) there have been no resulting problems. The alerts don't occur on my laptop because I have an ad blocker.

So happy to know I wasn't the only one and it has happened often in the past year. Only on this site!!

Spoke too soon, It's back!

I finally read something about what to do which said: open internet explorer click on tools select internet options click security tab click custom level in miscellaneous section, change display click mixed content and enable After I did this several days ago, I have had no further problems, at least yet! Hope this may help others. |
Yes, back it, but not as frequently as it was, but still...
Thank you, M.Elizabeth, for the tip. Will give it a try. |
