On a similar subject, why do some of the photos in post appear as thumbnails and others larger photos that we don't need to "click" on to view?

I believe that some of the pictures are links to pics in the QB albums the member has created

If I am on my old PC with XP I have to start my new post and actually post it...then go back and edit it to have the paperclip activated to attach a photo. On my laptop W10 I get the paperclip attachment activated right away.

Last week I was reading through old Help posts and found one that is #86 for me today, titled Mobile Users - etc. .... I followed AprilM's instructions on that and managed to post a picture there from my ipad even though her instructions were from a phone (I think) Maybe you could find that posting and read through it, hopefully it might help you too.

Even though I do post a lot of pictures, it is amazing to me how often I forget to hit the actual upload button.

Once you attach your pictures, you have to widen out the screen to actually see the upload button to hit.

These are some screen shots I took before, showing the default layout and then the stretched one. You browser/screen will probably look different but it's the shape that matters.

If you get the "your upload has failed" message, that usually means your file size is too large. I go to this site, follow their defaults and prompts, and download from there.

I often use the graphics png format for diagrams maps etc, because it will produce smaller files and better quality for the viewer. The png format is also used very much on internet as the jpg format is. So every computer used on internet needs to be able to show such graphics. I suppose this should not cause any problems to use the png-format here - am I right? You can easily upload the png-format graphics.

photo upload is - i freely admit - not as easy as it was before.
but if you read and follow the instructions i posted seven months ago, it can be done.

i think some mobile users are still having issues, but the techs fixed that, too.
i can't do instructions for mobile device upload.
i don't and won't use a mobile device for the QB.

Thank you PatriceJ for this clarification. I had a post rejected from a moderator partly because I used a png-file, and therefore I got nervous not to do anything wrong again. I have placed the post again, and I think the moderator accepted my post this time without issues.

I now upload this diagram here too. The size of the diagram is 1119x653 pixels and the file size is 46 kB. When this post is shown, the diagram is reduced in size to about 600 pixels in width in order to be in line with the text frames of QB. The diagram is readable but the text get quite small. However you are able to right click on the the graphics and chose to display the full size diagram in new window. So this works very nice.

However in the FAQ instructions, I find this text: "If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed." I do see an icon next to the name of my uploaded file, and I have tried to drag it into the text. But I cannot make this work, and the diagram is not displayed - only the small icon. Therefore I have inserted the picture here by use of the normal picture icon on the functions bar, and the HTML adress for the uploaded diagram produced by QB.

In your post I do not see the PNG-file as an attahed Thumbnail below the post. So it seems I miss some information here regarding how to use this arrow function.

once i have attached an image using the paperclip, i usually have to click on the paperclip again a few times to get the name(s) of the image(s) i've uploaded.
once the name(s) appear i just click on the file name i want to insert. no need to drag.

that's very interesting. how did you determine the HTML address at the QB once the image was uploaded?

When I click reply to a post like now, I get a section below the text I write called "Additional options" and a subsection "Attach files". Here I click on "Manage attachment" that handles the upload in a separate window. Then I close the window, and now below I see a name of my uploaded diagram as a link below. Then I right click on this name and chose "copy link". This link is the QB link adress to the uploaded png file and can be used as link reference.

I have not found an other way to insert the diagram in the text. When I just click on the icon or the name the diagram is not inserted by that. How did you avoid the file to be shown as a thumbnail below the uploaded text?
