strange pop up from IB

Internet brands that owns this forum/website just sent me a notice via a pop up that it had changed its privacy policy!

Did anyone else get this?

did you read the new policy?

kristakz 06-12-2012 02:59 PM

Yep, I got it too.

virtualbernie 06-12-2012 03:08 PM

me too, yup.

QuiltnNan 06-12-2012 03:11 PM

i saw the pop up but by the time i noticed it in the bottom corner, i had already gone to another page. then i couldn't get it back. thanks for satisfying my curiosity. oddly, i read the policy a few days ago. i just went there and i like the new look much better.

Lori S 06-12-2012 03:15 PM

I did NOT get it, but I have all pop-ups blocked.

nativetexan 06-12-2012 03:50 PM

yes i got it but ignored it. i hate any pop ups!!! it went away.

LynnVT 06-12-2012 03:55 PM

Well, its purpose was to inform you of your privacy rights, so I don't think it's something I'd want to avoid. In general, I have popups blocked, but this one is different. Thank you for the link.

information from us? internet brands,inc.

Quilting board members.
I got this pop up saying to look at new Privacy information as they took over on June 12,2012.
They can use our information, namem address, etc. plus ss#, credit cards plus.
It does not sound right to me. Anyone one else get this, what do you think?

b.zang 06-12-2012 08:29 PM

I didn't see the part about credit card or other numbers. What I did notice is that they said this is a single policy to cover all their websites and not everything applies to every website. However, this company does own a number of websites and didn't the policy say it would share information only within its own companies? I read that and clicked to see what companies they own, then couldn't get back to the policy. If I start receiving mail from random companies such as ben's bargains, or fitworld, then I'll know where they originated.

I got the pop up also today- it said that it has been updated - There is no remarks about using your Credit Card #s- here is a link to the Privacy Statement if you want to review it again :

http://www.internetbrands.com/privac...ighlights.html

You misread that - they will ask for your payment information if you are purchasing something from one of the Internet Brands web sites- that is the only reason

And actually Internet Brands took over the site last year and they own many boards

patricej 06-12-2012 11:53 PM

there is nothing to worry about. as has already been pointed out it's just a new standard statement to be used at all IB owned sites. we will not be asked to provide any additional personal information. it will not result in any additional junk emails.

Interesting for sure ...

knitnnan 06-13-2012 08:46 AM

thanks for the explanations - I was worried that they threw in something new

Jingle 06-13-2012 01:24 PM

I got it and read it. I agree with the mod.s, it isn't anything to worry about. Always good to ask those in the 'know' and not spread rumors.
Thanks Mod.s.

I have read that pop-up before and a few weeks later it is sent again. I try to ignore it but it's annoying. If you have read it before why does it still keep popping up?

Just Me... 07-07-2012 04:41 AM

It comes up on the bottom right every time I log in. Since I don't use my cc with their websites, it is all good....

Same question. Why don't they have a check box or other method to let them know you've read their policy?
