open and closed posts

I have noticed in the last few days that all of the posts not from the current date shows that I have read them.. I know I have not read all of them. I am assuming that if there are new posts and I did not read them it would still show an open envelope. The envelopes next to the post show that they have been read they are closed.

With the old format I think that the ones that I have read would change from bold type to regular type.and stay that way until there was a new post added. Not so with this new format. The next day the post is back to being bold even though there is no new post.

Hope this makes sense.

the icon for closed threads has a little lock on it.
otherwise it's open.

read and not read posts

I'm not talking about a locked thread I am talking about a thread that has been read by me or that has new posts
The red envelopes.
Maybe I should have titled it read and not read posts.

red envelopes denote hot threads.
not-hot are grey
the color differences have nothing to do with whether or not you have already looked at them.

i don't know what the criteria are for hot vs. not

If there is a new post to the thread the envelope(any color) is open with a piece of paper sticking out denoting that it has not been read, same for the gray envelope.

To me it is handy to show which posts have been read by me either on the post date or an earlier date so I do not have to peek inside to see if that is one that i have read. The old forum was like that. I could go back days and see what posts I had not read and read them if I wanted to. Now it is a guessing game because the symbols do not work. Any post older than one day whether read or not shows thread with no new post, closed envelopes. If this is the intention of the coders it is useless information. Why have a symbols at all. What is the purpose.?????

Sometimes I do not read a post on the same day that it was originally posted. Therefor previous days will have an envelope that is still open.

All threads older than one day if read by me or not are also not in bold type anymore. What is the purpose of having two different size types?
Maybe you can forward this onto someone else. Maybe I am just crazy from being cooped up for 5 weeks.
