resizing a picture to be able to post

I had my computer guy here in hopes he could help me post a picture. We went to my pictures and tried to upload the;picture and it "failed to upload" he said it was probably because the file was too large. I used to be able to down size the pictures with a side bar pop up but I no loner have that on my new computer. He said is was a program called picasa but that google bought it and closed it. He said I had to get a new program (probably buy from google) that will allow me to resize my photos. What program do you all use? I love this board but unfortunately I have not posted pictures for a long time and I do want to participate in that way. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

I use Paint to resize my pictures. It comes with most Windows programs.

I take almost all my pictures with my smart phone. Then I email the picture to myself. Part of the email process asks if I want to send it as small, medium, large or actual size. I usually use Medium. I don't find any difference in the quality for posting online. Save that smaller version to your computer or your phone and upload the smaller version.

Barb; after you have emailed picture to yourself, how do you then post to the quilting board? That would be so much easier than taking a picture with my camera, taking out card then inserting in computer and then resizing on paint then sending to q/b.

I go to my photo gallery and edit and save a smaller pic to post on other sites.

I open my email on my laptop. Save the picture to my hard drive and then upload it. If you are not using a computer, then save the photo to your phone, then upload. I am not sure how to go straight from a phone to the website.

Download Ribbet, which is free.

Upload your picture and push "Save", it will come up with sizing. Make the first number 1500 and save it and it will always work on this site. You can also edit and crop your pictures on that site.
