View daily threads in date order?

I just can't seem to get on with the system your post say today and it is Nov16th date night come up just about any date but todays date . Why can't it be in dated order any more .I was just getting used to the old system went
off for awhile and came back to a new system . Change is always good but I think the new system is too complicated
writing too small., and not clear as to how things are run can you explain?.
thank you Noella

fmhall2 11-16-2011 03:00 PM

I agree with you Noella. I look at some threads today, and notice they had a July date. I don't understand it.

FayZ 11-16-2011 03:05 PM

I've noticed that fewer people are posting pictures now. I liked having my first cuppa and browsing the new pictures. Now there are maybe three or four a day If that many.Where did everybody go? FayZ

pastimesquiltdesign 11-16-2011 03:10 PM

I stopped posting pics because it seemed hard to see the new stuff. I just kept seeing the same old posts every day so I figured nobody was really on the quilting board much anymore.

Kim Bohannon 11-16-2011 03:12 PM

well, you can set it up in your settings to show posts that are only 2 days old, one week old, 2 months, etc... that helps. Aslo you can zoom on your computer to show the pages larger... works great for me

G'ma Kay 11-16-2011 03:12 PM

go to the bottom of the screen and click on archives. That is all in order by category.

bnndr 11-16-2011 03:13 PM

I agree that their are not as many pictures posted lately. I too enjoy looking at the picture of lovely quilts. Maybe we just haven't learned where to look yet. Hopefully some one will enlighten us soon.

Picture date order

I, too, am finding it difficult to see new quilts each day. I have to scroll down through many different dates to find the "today" quilts. It would be wonderful if they could be listed newest to oldest. Gloria

Thanks to someone's suggestion a few days ago, I've been using the archive section at the bottom of the page and so far it seems to work like the old 'new topics' that we had on the old forum, that so many of us have been missing. It changes colour once you've looked at that topic and so far seems to stay that way :) I'm finding it much easier to browse through there

erstan947 11-16-2011 03:39 PM

For me "Archive" at the bottom of the page is the best way to view current messages. It seems to me the reason the old posts keep coming up is it put a topic back at the top if anyone posts a new message to an old post. It is like a merry-go-round and I couldn't get off. Archive got me back on the road again:)

JayCee 11-16-2011 03:43 PM

Thanks so much G'ma Kay for the info on using archives to view pictures in date order. That the way i like to view the photos of all the great quilts.

SoozeeDoozee 11-16-2011 04:06 PM

Archive is the way to go. You can go there any time of the day or night and look at the newest pictures. I was ever so grateful to find this way because I agree with many that the new board is frustrating to find the latest pictures. Seems it just shows the latest post meaning the last time anyone posted to a topic, so it could keep coming up for days on the most recent postings.

Nathan's Mimi 11-16-2011 04:44 PM

Yeah! I liked to drink coffee in the morning and review what everyone has been making also. But when I click on a "Today" photo;its from a few days to a month ago and i have seen it a couple of times. Not that these pictures arent nice;I just do not want to see them over and over. Sure wish this feature could be changed again.

There were 34 threads started in the picture section since I was on the board last night. More and more people are getting wise to getting to the threads via "Archive" at the bottom of the page. It is a much easier, more organized way to read the topics. I am so glad that I learned about it, because it has helped with some of my frustrations.

Archive Logged Me out

I went to Archive - it is a pain in the behind to view topic by topic- and to add insult to injury - it logged me out. Don't know how that happened but the advice I've been reading to use archive is not worth the aggravation.

I am sick of posts from months ago and having to scroll FOR PAGES to find a recent post.

The only good thing about the new board is the hover which allows us to view a thread before clicking on it. The rest of the so-called new and improved changes are changes for the sake of change.

Please start listening to your users and post new threads where we can CONVENIENTLY find them.

I have tried to stay positive about the new board. I have taken the advice of those that have figured things out before I do. I have also gone to the archives to see what I am missing. I am not upset by change however I do have to say that although we have received some upgrades with this board, the new owners do not seem to get the essence of what was built here. We are a family.

We are a family and beyond the quilting fun that goes on here, there is also support and encouragement of all sorts of things. I went to the archive and was so shocked to see that there is so much more new activity than what is shown on the home page. Here is my real problem with the change. New quilters and people looking for advice for their quilts may not be getting it because their thread may not be one of the active threads. Therefore, we all suffer by not supporting each other and encouraging new quilters.

I, too, have tried to stay positive about the new board. However, I am finding it very time consuming to go through and, therefore, not as much fun. I find I am not reading all the posts as I did before. I have to admit that I have not tried looking at the Archives yet but will do so to see what is there. What I have been doing is going to the bottom of the individual forums (Main, Pictures, etc.) and changing the "Thread Display Option" to "Thread Start Time." For me, this puts the latest posts in chronological order. Unfortunately, I have to keep doing this - it doesn't keep the setting. I'm also noticing that the posts are not "changing color" after I have read them and that some are changed to "Read" even though I haven't read them. I don't know if Members were canvassed about what they would like to see in the new format (I didn't see a post), but, if not, it might have been nice since we are the ones using the site.

glorcour 11-18-2011 05:56 AM

I am feeling the same way
I have tried to get out of the mobile format without any luck. I find the reverse order of postings awkward. I would rather start at the beginning and move down rather than having the most recent comments/postings added at the top of the file. I find the site slow and cumbersome and am not enjoying my morning tea routine as well. I guess I can find other things to do.

Does anyone know how to et back to the regular default display rather than the mobile???. I cannot even send a message through the "contact us" button at the bottom of the home page.

mimiknoxtaylor 11-18-2011 06:07 AM

Thanks for the advise. Going to the archives works much better for me.

Joyce Ann 11-18-2011 06:17 AM

Thanks for the tip on the Archives section ladies. I felt like I was missing half of the messages. Now I can catch up with everything

patricej 11-18-2011 11:35 AM

Hmmmmm .... you have given me an idea.

I will stick a post at the top of each section that points to the Archive version of the section. They seem to be in reverse order ... newest at the top.

Do you think that would help?

That's how I view pics and posts, too!

auntiehenno 11-18-2011 09:34 PM

Tpp bad we did not have some instrution, peioe to change. I have wasted so much time.!!!!!

auntiehenno 11-18-2011 09:37 PM

Too bad we did not get some instruction prior to changes on the board. Wasted time.
This is a repeat, but editied, as not indicated how to do it.

craftymatt2 11-18-2011 10:40 PM

I thought archives were all the older post, i use to be on the QB form sun up to sun down, not anymore, just cant get the hang of it, people would post pics and patterns, not anymore, share stories about lifes ups and downs, don't see that anymore.

Mary, Archives don't appear to be just "older" posts on this QB. But it does make it easier to cull the overwhelming down to something more manageable. Like you I was on QB off & on throughout the day but not anymore. Sure has helped in getting things actually done!

Phyllis42 11-19-2011 06:08 PM

I can't find an archives for the FS section. Can somebody help?

chichimamma 11-28-2011 12:46 PM

I wish the daily topics were just for that day and not saved, I liked it better, I think I am losing out on alot. I think this takes too long to look at also.
