Who is “head” of the Quilting Board?

I feel sort of embarrassed. Who is “behind or in charge” of the Quilting Board? Is it Paradise something or Rhonda? I absolutely Love it , and it is my main thing that I look at on the internet. It is my “go to” place for most of my quilting questions , but I feel totally ignorant who is behind all of this. Thank you !

NewNonni 07-18-2018 09:19 PM

I also meant to ask who writes the Articles, also? Thank you!

I don't know who owns the site, but PatriceJ is listed as the "Community Manager" which I've always assumed means she's an employee. QuiltnNan is listed as a moderator, which I'm guessing is an elevated user position, but both of those two would probably be able to answer your questions (better than I can!).

He sold the site years ago. I do wonder what he's doing now.

Internet Brands owns this board and several others.

For most purposes I am "in charge."
I am not an employee.
I do this free of charge.

My first loyalty is to the members.
But I do have an ethical obligation to remember and consider the owning company's needs, too.
They are not a charity.
More/most importantly, they are extremely sensitive to our preferences and needs.
They bend over backward to keep us happy.
Our liaison at the company is absolutely fantastic. :)

The moderators are also all volunteers.
Since no one person can see everything every day they work as a team to keep things straight.
They work very hard and I will be forever grateful to each and every one of them. :)

Thank you both Patrice and all others who volunteer to this wonderful site.

luvstoquilt 07-20-2018 05:30 AM

I never gave this a thought but after reading this I thank you for your service. I really enjoy this board!

Keeping this board running smoothly for a company who does it for profit is not a volunteer type activity. You should be paid for what you do. When a crafts' person becomes an expert, they pass into the world of art and that deserves adequate compensation. We are always reading where this board is telling quilters not to sell themselves short when dealing with their hard work. You should not do that either. That said, thank you very much. The collective knowledge of the members of this board cannot be beat.

thank you for the thought but i absolutely prefer it this way.
if they offered a salary i would decline.
it has nothing at all to do with selling myself short.
it has to do with the freedom i have doing it this way.

besides ... no company could afford to pay me what [i think] i'm worth.
lol lol lol

For Patrice and all the other volunteers that keep this board going, I thank you and appreciate all that you do. I love QB and enjoy the articles, pictures and the amazing help from all the quilt members.

I am so glad I found this site so many years ago. I read it everyday and spend probably way to much time on here, but I am retired so it is ok. Thanks to everyone who keeps this board up and running.

nativetexan 07-21-2018 08:50 AM

I thank you too PatriceJ. it takes a lot of your time daily to keep track of everything. Good work!!

ka9sdn 07-23-2018 12:14 PM

SusieQOH 07-23-2018 04:32 PM

Patrice J, you are hilarious! :D
Okay, I believe ya- but seriously, thanks for the great forum.

ILoveToQuilt 07-24-2018 03:55 PM

Thanks to all the great volunteers on the board! PatriceJ, you rock!

That said...can we please, please, please get a "like" button or something that would approximate one? (Or is this a patented Facebook thingy?)

patricej 07-25-2018 02:27 AM

i have no plans to add a "like" button.
if you like something you see or read, please take a minute to post and say so.
a "why" would also be enjoyed. :)

He started a similar board called Knitter's Paradise. His new wife was/is a knitter. He also had a photography discussion board like this one. Strictly business.

Thank you all so much for all you do to give us this wonderful place to join with others who love quilting. It is such a good place for all quilters old and just learning to meet and share what we do and how with others.

NewNonni 08-06-2018 04:27 PM

not to take away from your kindness but please don't forget the other members of the moderator team. :)

Mumto2 08-09-2018 03:31 AM

I have been a member for all of 24 hours but am pretty sure I am going to love it. Thanks to this thread I now know you are all volunteers and want to add my Thank You.

Going to admit I was wondering about a like button myself and after thinking about it agree comments are nicer.

NewNonni 08-09-2018 08:32 AM

NewNonni here again. Thank all of the volunteers who put in So much time and work for those Wonderful Quilting Board! You are the highlight of my internet experience, And at times, I don’t know what I do without you (probably give up on quilting!!!).

toverly 08-09-2018 11:17 AM

Thank y'all for all that you do. Especially putting my posts into the right board. I always seem to get that wrong. I think its because I always go to the What's New tab and read from there, it's all mixed up for me anyway. But it gets where it needs to go thanks to you and other volunteers.

barny 08-09-2018 02:03 PM

I read these thoughts from everyone on here every day. I thank PatriceJ and moderators for the way it is kept going. There are so many good men and women on here with their ideas and work that is done. So, so beautiful!
