Why don't more members have photo albums in their profiles?
Photo Albums. It's a wonderful feature of this site that you can have photo albums in your profile.... so why don't more people do it?
Many times the discussions here lead me to want to see what others have made (look at their quilting, etc.) so I go looking for some examples in their profiles. But so few people have made albums. I think they are fun and an easy way to share your quilts with the other members. And if your computer crashes, your pictures in the albums will not be lost. They'll be here! |
I did not know that you could do that. I'll have to find out how to create an album, I have lots of pictures of quilts I've done.
|
I've never seen albums. just photos put into groups by moderators in the gallery.
|
I've been slowly setting up mine but I've been having trouble making my pics fit in the page; they are always huge and don't look very inviting:) But I agree, the photo albums are a nice way to share quilts.
I was just looking at yours today, sewbizgirl:) Lovely quilts! |
I have my Albums set up. I add to them. Make new ones, sometimes delete old ones. These days, a lot of quilters are guarding there designs and just don't want them on the net. Some QB'rs may not know of that feature. I enjoy having the albums feature. It helps me keep up with my creations and to see each new turn my quilting takes. I too love checking out peoples profiles and albums. Maybe this discussion will start a new trend.
Pictures have to be sized no larger then 360 x 640. I use photobucket.com to resize my photos. Others use there own computer programs. There is help references in the QB help center section. |
How to begin to do this? I am using an iPad, does that matter in how we put in photos? It is nice to see other quilts.
|
I just haven't taken the time to look into how it's done. Thanks for the reminder.
|
No interest in battling everything to get it done. I'd rather be quilting.

*** Instructions (tutorial), please. *** |
There are other ways to view members pictures if you are interested in their work. Click their profiles then click "find latest started threads". Then you can go to any thread in the "pictures" forum that member has started. That is how I store all my photos on the qb by starting a topic to share the quilt. In the topic I can put all the details such as pattern name, types of threads used, batting used, etc. I see no reason to have my photos on the QB in two different areas.
|
I didn't know there was such a thing, but I just put some pictures in there. I'll definitely start using it now.

Hunting down 'latest started threads' is way more cumbersome. Also they may have posted pics in the middle of threads they didn't start... I know I do. The albums feature is a convenience. I have 10 albums going, currently. Some are albums of blocks I've made or received in block swaps. They are all pics that I didn't start a thread for.
To start making albums, go to your "My Profile" page and follow directions. It's no harder than uploading photos anywhere else on the board. If they are too big for the board, they won't upload. This is how you make your pics smaller: When you go to upload a photo here, you will hit the tree in the picture frame, and then choose "from computer". Then you get the browse button. When you click on 'browse', your photo files from your computer will open. When you find the photo you want to upload, first right click on it and then click on 'resize photo' from the menu. Then click on 'small' and a new small version of the same photo will open in your file. Click to upload that one. When you do this once, you'll see it's easy. |
Thank you for explaining.
|
I'm going to try this as soon as I have a little free time. I think it's a great idea. Thanks for the instructions, sewbizgirl.
|
thanks for the instructions.....I forgot how.
|
Like many other QB members, I didn't know about he album...Sewbizgirl says it's not any harder than posting pictures, but that in itself is always a road block for me. I have not been successful with my Ipad so I download from my Nikon which entails for or five steps through my LightRoom application to get them to fit. I'm sure there's an easier way....

I didn't know that feature was on the site, should have.
Started uploading photos, but some are too big. Gotta find a resize program. |
At the bottom of any page is a menu. HELP is the first item. Click on that.
The next page has a list of help/ how to items. Look for ALBUMS. Click on that and you will find instructions there. Hope this helps. I have always been curious why people don't use their home page more to store their quilting history. It is a nice way to get an overview of the people we talk to and play with every day. I wouldn't put any personal info there but general biography and likes/ dislikes can really help us get to know each other. I like to use the albums to keep a history of my quilts. I wish more people would. Also you may need yo resize your photos: http://www.quiltingboard.com/qb-help...g-t166655.html peace |

Some of us are just too lazy - stupid - scatter brained - or whatever to figure out all the technology we have at out finger tips. And some of us are just to busy procrastinating to take the time to figure it all out. Someday I may learn! ! !
|
Some of us are just too busy with LIFE, and quilting!
|
Thank you, I'll check it out.

I have no idea how to post pictures.
|
As far as I know, I have made albums for each of my quilts I remembered to take pictures of. Some have more explanation of the pictures and who they were made for. You can use this feature as your own personal diary.
Type of quilt Colors/fabric/batting used Size Recipient Hand/machine quilt - design used Highlight special features. All in one place. Now it is easier to add albums as you complete quilts but everyone starts somewhere. You also can edit if you think of something to add later!! |
photos
i don't have a camera or a smart phone.
|
My profile lists my albums. I haven't updated it in a awhile though.
|
I just don't do photo albums. I get frustrated.
|
