Several quick questions I don't see answered here
Help please, I'm confused. When I read the word blog I think that it means this person has a blog somewhere on the internet and heres a link to it. But apparently that's not what it means. What's the difference between a blog, a post and starting a thread? Also, when you upload a picture of a quilt you've made is that considered a blog???
Also, my profile picture doesn't appear on my posts although when I look at my profile it's there.
Oops one more things. What is an Avatar???
Thanks you are all so helpful.

A post is when you comment on a thread (subject) started by someone else.
A new thread is a subject, picture, tutorial etc. that you start yourself.
If you upload a picture of a quilt, it goes in the picture section.
That picture can also be added to your blog section if you want to.
Your Avatar is the picture that you put on your profile.

I agree with ChrisDee. My photo appears on my profile but not on the blog. Also I have started new posts several times and they never appear. I thought I followed the directions perfectly but evidently something is not right. I am getting a little frustrated as I did need some answers. Help.

you need to set your avatar separately from your profile picture. The avatar is the one that appears with your username whenever you post.
the avatar can be configured under "settings"
To continue what Tartan explained ... a thread is a discussion that everyone can contribute to. Each contribution is a post to that thread. A blog is more like your own personal area, where you can put anything you want. It can be used like a journal or diary if you wish. No on else can add to your blog directly, although they can make comments on what you've put there.

Go to "Settings"
Click on "Edit Avatar" on the left hand side
Look for "Custom Avatars"
If the picture you want to upload is on your computer, hit the browse button and find the file.
Once you have found the file, double click on the file name, that will put the file path into the box to the left of the browse button.
Click "Save Changes".
Please note: Avatar picture must be less than 120 x 120 pixels or 64.0 kb, whichever is smaller
Good Luck!
