The woman in the material dept said they can not order or choose fabric and have to take what get shipped to them. They are getting bunch of materials for dress up clothes I would call it. Bolts they have. Material styles do change over the years. I sure noticed that when I cut up the scrap in to little blocks. And they do not all have the same materials.

The quilt material store in the big city is so high I donot go there. 90 miles to the big city and the other the other direction is not quite that far maybe 75. That is closest places to shop. I have been in this little now year and half and only here because I have a son here. Senior bus goes to the two once a month.

I will be 82 next month and I have just made blocks in the past. New to making fancier quilts. I made the John Deere one last year for son and he likes that.

Colorado: If it was 75 miles to the nearest fabric store it would be a lot easier to resist temptation. Eighty-two is a great time to learn something new, you sure will see some beautiful work here on the board. Next month I'll be 66 but I am making more quilts now than ever and I've been at it since the late 1960's.

I have access to stores, but even worse, i have access to the internet! If I could just learn to say no, and believe i mean it, I would do so much better! And I've memorized my visa number, I'm sunk!! Lol

Nancia: I'd really be sunk if I had my card number memorized. As is there are to many sites that retain the number, makes it far to easy, I don't even have to leave my chair.

Remember when I said I was going to be really, really good for this last month??...
My sister has been working on a quilt for several years, except she only works on it one day a year, and at my house. It's actually not even one day, because she always sees garage sales on the way and her car automatically stops. So in August we set up a date for October and picked the 8th & 9th in the middle of the week (no garage sales) at her house. She is determined to finish the quilt top. So she calls me Monday and says that she's getting ready for a craft fair (she makes purses) and we might just work on those, oh, and she has a few places she wants to go. She went to a garage sale the previous weekend and a woman was selling "baggies of fabric pieces", coordinated colors for $1.50. The seller had lots she didn't sell, and we could go if I wanted. I'm thinking a sandwich baggie of scraps. When I got to my sister's she showed me her selections. They are gallon bags stuffed with yardage and big pieces. What could I do? I got 10 bags. Smallest pieces are a quarter yard (fats & longs), largest piece 2+ yards, most are 1/2 -3/4 yard. Each bag had around 4 yards. All LQS fabric. Works out to $0.38/yard. I did show some restraint, leaving at least 20 bags (she was going to donate the rest to a charity).
I did start out the month by gifting about 20 yards to a new quilter. One step forward, 4 steps back.
My name is Nancy and I am officially out of control.
I'm going to go pet my new fabric.

Princess: It would be so much fun to sit and sort through those bags. You would only have been bad if you had turned your back on those poor homeless "scraps". The only problem I would have is which ones to leave behind.

My New Year resolution for 2014 is not to bother putting myself into the fabric moratorium. At some or several points over the course of 12 months I will crash and burn in the biggest way. Just got back from a week in Maine and another in Tennessee. Managed to come home with 18 yards of new fabric between the two states. And so it goes.....

Paperprincess...Wow! I think none of us fault your purchases at .38 cents a yard. Would be foolish in this day and age of $9/yd fabric not to take advantage of a bargain...moratorium or not. I was a good girl on my trip to Calif. and only bought 1 FQ and 1 yd. of fabric both of which I needed for the round robin swap I am in. I had lots of lavender/light purple in my stash but needed dark/royal purple. Now to figure out which border to make. Love everyone's latest comments.

Paperprincess, maybe you need to take it one day at a time. I was good last week - didn't buy any fabric or quilt-related stuff. That may change today since I have a coupon from Joann.

Just went through the on line sale for jo Ann's. Once again, everything i want is on sale. Guess I'll go get the glow in the dark paint, and the wedge, and, and, doggone it, what was the third thing? I've already placed an order for black batting and thread at connecting threads. Done spending for today!
