Hmmm......could probably do with a magazine/book buying moratorium as well as the fabric. Two large, groaning bookshelves...full of patterns, mags and books.

YOu and me both. I'm trying to organize & purge my books right now. Don't know if Amazon has great used book deals in AU, but here there are lots of older titles available here for $1 or less. (I just ignore the $4 postage ). Seems like every week someone posts a pic of a wonderful quilt and mentions the book it's from, and I'm off to Amazon...

I've done reasonably well -- at least until I went to the Des Moines quilt show and we visited quilt shops on the way to and from. Found a backing for a completed quilt at one of those shops. Bought lots of notions there also. The the next weekend I went to a family reunion in Montana --bought 20 yards of neutrals so use with all the fabrics I already had to make Kim Diehl quilts. No one in our area sells her type of fabric so I HAVE to buy it when I can find it.

Then today dh slammed on the brakes to avoid an accident and now my back is all spasmmy, so i stayed up anyway, but it's getting the best of me! Need to sleep...... Need more books.......are we really gonna go there? Need more food....... Oh, yeah! Nitey nite! I'll save all my other needs for later, lol.

Sorry to hear of your issues, nancia, I share your back problems, but not headaches. You have my sympathy.

I am doing okay not buying fabric or books - just one magazine this year and, oh, one pattern. Now if I can stay off the computer and away from reading novels, I could sew some of my stash. This week my time will be taken with getting ready for the church bazaar and getting things outdoors ready for winter. My sewing machines are lonely.

Interesting that getting one compulsion under control makes us aware of others. Did any one mention additive personality???? Guilty as charged.

Hope the muscles settle down soon. Bad back is bad life - I had back surgery so I understand.

I put myself on a book and magazine stop a while ago. I got overwhelmed with mags and they stopped being fun. I pulled patterns I wanted and gave the rest away. Books - I only buy new techniques and only after doing lots of research.

This Thursday is the start of my retreat.....with trips to Quilt Stores. eeeeeek - I shall be strong! Now if that means not buying or if it means muscles to carry the loot - we shall see. lol

Gosh, as i read this i think we need to have a pattern, book, and magazine swap. Any idea how we could organize that?
Also, I have to agree. With you paper princess ! I do the same thing! Someone mention a book? I run to B and N and order a cheap used one, surprised i haven't seen you there, too, lol. I'm going to have to live to 112 to use up what I've got ! Frankly, i don't want to hang around that long!
The quilting guild i attend does hand quilting every Tuesday from 11-3. My hand stitching is improving! It's really fun actually. Who knew?! Lol!

I made a trip to Joann's this weekend to buy a gift card and a piece of gold glittery fabric for a project (which I didn't find). I picked up 3 remnants while I was there. 1 is black with candy corns printed on it, which I'll be using tonight for treat bags for the 3 little ones across the street who always come to see me on Halloween. One was a solid in a color I know I'll use & didn't have, and the other was 1 yard of a bright-ish blue fabric with a lighter blue flower & vine, which will probably be backing fabric for a spring swap. I picked up a bobbin box, so I can put all the bobbins for my old sewing machine in it & put it with the machine, so I'll have room in my stand for the ones for my new machine. And I also bought about 10 spools of Christmas red, Christmas green and tangerine embroidery thread and black and translucent regular thread, while I had a coupon for 50% off my thread purchase. Between this purchase and the white thread I get from Denmark (not sure why she never gets me black), I think I'm set for piecing thread for a while. I'm hoping that the embroidery thread I got while get me through Christmas too.

Ok, just lost my posting. Grr!!! I pads are hard when you have shaky hands!
le Bratta, i love a cold face and one foot sticking out! Dh wants warmth now, so i swelter. The best answer so far has been separate blankets. He gets the comforter, i get an old worn out quilt-- which is actually a. Collectors piece from the 30's. And I shouldn't be using it, but it's just the right warmth!
I am heading for dallas on Sunday, and no surprise, i am already packed and ready to go! My daughter and almost dgd both have November birthdays, and you know i love celebrating !! And yum, cake! While I'm there ddil will have a sonogram which may reveal the baby's gender. If so, she will take the sealed envelope, with the winner, to a bakery where they will bake a cake, and the frosting between the layers will be either pink or blue. The outside will be white, i think. Doesn't that sound like a cool way to find out? And celebrate dd's b'day, too. Can't wait! This time i am staying with my dd who felt i didn't spend enough time with her in august. I will spend more time visiting friends and less time with dgd. Bittersweet, but i think dd deserves some mommy time, too. They never really grow up all the way. I would still love to be able to call my parents when I'm down, or happy. Miss them! I am making a small day of the dead art quilt in their memory. Guess I'd better hurry and get it done! Happy halloween, ghouls!
