Fabric bought with a plan and will be used instead of building a stash is not counted. Did you have anything in stash that would have worked? I seem to forget that. I'm just out and it's an impulse to buy. So, pre-looking and pre-thinking is going to be key for me in not buying any more fabric just to buy.

I sadly have not seen any significant reduction of stash by usage. I have however reduced my stash through process of donation this month. How much? I don't know. I don't measure it. I just do the one touch method. Touch it once, and decide weather it stays or go. I am just paralyzed by my stash. It is just too much. So, by reducing my stash for now, Not all, just the stuff I will never get to or want to get to...I'm hoping to jump start my creativity by using what I bought before with basically no plan in sight. I probably have enough for at least 30 or more quilts if you factor in scraps also. I need to get busy sewing! So, it's really important for me to follow the moratorium. I want to get my buying and "hoarding" fabric under control. I want to use all that fabric I so lovingly picked out.

I just stepped off the wagon for a bit. Crafty, aka Blueprint, had a few FQ sets on sale for about 1/3 regular price so I picked up 2 of them. I haven’t bought any new fabric, except for backings or fabric needed for a WIP, for a few months so I’m not letting myself feel guilty. One set is Stir Crazy, with lots of baking pictures. I’ll make something for my younger daughter who loves to bake. The other set is patriotic. The same daughter was born on July 4, so it could be something else for her. Or my SIL is a veteran so...

Ohhhhh! Conchalea, I saw the sale, but I did not check it out. I have so many precuts here that I have no business getting any more for ages and ages. I still have a few Craftsy kits to do so no more Craftsy/Bluprint for a while. But I AM a little jealous.

I don’t have any patriotic fabric but I’m trying to be good and not let that be the only reason to buy. I did cave and buy the fqb and some yardage from the new three sisters line, porcelain, so I need help back up on the wagon...maybe I should sit wayyyyyy in the back far away from all the pretty fabrics passing by.

Just found this thread--it is terrific.

My situation is a bit different as I belong to a charity group in Phoenix that has a quilt shop worth of fabric for their charity quilts. We get LOTS of donations when ladies pass away or go into some sort of assisted living. It is a cautionary reminder to me not to have so much. Families are often overwhelmed. We will even go into homes and help them clear out the quilting supplies. We know groups to pass along other craft hobby supplies.

That being said I have to be very strong and not take too much home. I have a certain space for fabric and will not exceed that. I pretty much stay out of the many quilt shops here as they are like heroin. I took myself off just about every fabric selling site for sale emails. I keep reminding myself "You have enough". I do see the pretty new stuff on Instagram.

Did a touching of the big toe off the wagon! Circled a local thrift store where I have never seen anything quilty. Well... in a clear tote, I could see FQs with the labels still on them. Just three of them(Robert Kaufman, Hoffman and a landscape textured) and a yard of Anna Griffin blender patterned piece. No prices displayed. Went to the checkout, explained and the volunteer replied, "How's a dollar for all of it?" Sounds good! Washed and put in project bags already. Back on the wagon with feet firmly planted.

Those thrift shops are too tempting!! Luvstoquilt and AUQuilter, I understand.... A thrift shop got me into real trouble, too. I visit sometimes because I still have friends that volunteer there, but I don't go near the crafts section! We must be strong and hang onto the wagon with both hands!!

Here’s a wall hanging I just finished. It’s from an extra block I made along with the 24 other blocks for the Surprise Pinwheel quilt. I got the pattern from MSQC. I decided to make the quilt 4 X 6 instead of 5 X 5 & my daughters said this one was the one to cut when I needed to reduce it. The flying geese borders & cornerstones are the cut off triangles from the color pieces in the blocks. I’m very happy with it & it all came from stash.
