Finally finished all the sewing to the clues, still have to trim clues 4 and 5. Here is this weeks progress pic, I think it has some of each clue to date. Not meant as a real guess since not everything fits, but I really like this layout.

I just finished clue #5. With those stubborn seams it actually gave me more trouble than #4. Enjoy seeing everyone's work and guesses.

Your 4-patches look great, Betty! (post 1184) I like your butterfly fabric.

All the mail in the post office at the time went to Portland to a drying room...and for the unknown future we have to go to the larger town north of us to pick up our mail. The first time I only had 3 people in front of me, something that hasn't been repeated..more like 1-2 hours. I've talked to very interesting fellow waiters

Our place is at 900 feet so we are more likely to just be watching our driveway wash down the hill

It was strange to see dry sidewalks and streets today. But we have not had it as bad as some other places. I'm glad you're high enough to be safe, KalamaQuilts.

For better or worse, I've finished clue #4. If I have to do any over, I suppose I should try the other method and see if the results are better. I may have to re-do some sets, as those very dark reds are barely distinguishable from the black. But for now, I'm moving on to clue #5.

That's a great clue 4... love your fabrics, Lisa. I wouldn't change a thing.

Kassaundra, very creative and pretty layout you have come up with!

We are in Mississippi and have had just tons of rain. It's supposed to be coming back in again tomorrow, too. Our driveway had just been 'graded' before all this rain started and it's been mostly unusable since... just thick mud to get stuck in. We've been driving through the woods until that's all rutted up too. Going to have to park up at the front of the property and hike in and out in mud boots after tomorrow. Ugh. Country living....

Hi all, I hope that all you weather-challenged guys are coping with the added water...

Eureka!! I've finally finished clue 4!! It seemed interminable, what with trying to fit it in between interruptions, car issues, unexpected house guests, Santa, etc etc. I'd got to the point of believing I had to finish the units to finish the bad luck .

Anyway here's the results:

I'm doing 60%, so 18 sets required, and I used a hybrid cutting out system. I like the stitch-and-flip method for accuracy, but I decided I didn't really need all those extra bonus HSTs it would create, so I cut logs and used the angle ruler (first time ever lol) to cut the triangles, which I could then flip for ironing. My first batch weren't too accurate, but the remainder I improved by drawing a stitching line on the back of the logs.

Clue 5 is also finished . I did half completely scrappy, and half controlled scrappy. They went satisfyingly quickly

Funny how the flash makes the colours different.

My prediction for these logs is that they will become a border, sewn together end to end, with a triangle intruding into the border. (Another hint towards an on-point setting? ) So I decided to make matching pairs so I can have matched triangles if necessary (I know, I've got 2 to swap around lol).

Anyway, Happy Hogmanay to everyone Roll on the next clue.

Good morning everyone. It is fun to look at everyone's progress. As for me, I am just starting step one. Reason? I just finished moving from Washington state to Sierra Vista, Arizona. Even after doing pre-moving purging I still have a lot of scraps and yardage for Allietare. All I had to purchase was the grey constant. Lucky for me there is a wonderful quilt shop less than two miles from me.

Welcome aboard, CarolineS!

Great blocks, everyone...

I too thought about the large blocks with the snowballed corners as being a border with triangles in it, possibly an extension of interior squares/triangles. But are there enough of them to make a border? Seems like there aren't that many. More mystery.... LOL.
