I got distracted making some additional items for a one day craft fair that is coming up April 26th, so I haven't finished my quilt yet, but I plan on working on it tomorrow so I can have the space on the design wall. These are a few of the postcards I am going to take to the craft fair. I have to do the decorative stitching and bind these.

dotcomdtcm: I love your crocus quilt. I have several coming up in my yard. They are so cheerful.

pollyjvan9~ it is perfectly alright to disagree with me! we all see things differently and petthefabric can take in all the suggestions and choose what fits her vision. i love that art creates dialogue between people who would otherwise not become involved with each other. to me that is the second most important reason to create and/or enjoy artistic expression. the red binding would lock the picture in and certainly be very striking. my thought was that a matching binding to the picture allows the imagination's eye to continue the vision past the limits of the piece.

Are your postcards laminated? They look shiny. And very nice!
How about the April theme a bit early? It's still cold & I am inside.

Default Calling all the March projects!

I hope that 'crazy' abounded in your creative work this month. Can we see some more of it please???

Well now, dotcom you know the first of the month is the deadline........ If that drives you crazy you could do one more utterly insane work for the month...I will have the new challenge right on time for the 1st.

I do feel sorry for all you guys enduring something less than a balmy spring though and so I have submitted some eye candy and a stunner of a cool idea below for you though.

Here in Santiago we are having a gorgeous fall and I wanted to be in front of the picture window to enjoy it all but there was the dreaded clothes ironing that needed doing. Then in an expedition to the other end of town I discovered a wood craftsman and......

Ta-dah! How about a chair that opens into an ironing board???? The back is on a long pin.

One thing I absolutely love is the hidden storage in the seat. It is supposed to be for the iron but I like to stash my portable computer in it when I leave the house. No use making it easy for a thief is my motto.

Love this as it is short and the board fat so I can iron a couple of blocks is a small space. Needs a pad on top naturally but overall I have to find ways to use it or hubby might complain I 'wasted' the $$ as it's NOT a comfortable chair--that would take a little more upholstery IMO!

Default April challenge

April Challenge

Got a little time free this weekend? Here is the April Challenge to get started on.You know I almost never give out the challenge early but this month while skimming the web I found this challenge on another site, which is sadly now defunct. The webpage still exists and I mercilessly ripped off this idea as I loved it so much. Since I got to get started on it so early I thought it only fair that you all should get it too. I promise I will go back and finish this month’s challenge shortly as it is a cool project only partially done on the wall

It’s spring! Well at least for you all in the northern hemisphere who are not digging our of snow drifts again. Down here in South America I am battening down for winter. But this month’s challenge had to tie in with the new hopes and growth of the year and the seasons.

So here you go. First you need to go to this website which is awesome:

http://www.thisgardenisillegal.com/flower-quiz

There you should take the test to discover what kind of flower you are. Then please depict that result in fabric somehow. Additionally how about using something on the piece that has comes out of the hardware store, the kitchen, the garage, or anyplace else that is industrially created stuff that has nothing to do with soft delightful fabric?

For instance. I discovered I am apparently a daffodil, which is a flower I knew nothing about having grown up in the SW deserts. Now I have researched the heck out of them and love them. They grow here and I can’t wait to get some bulbs and get started with some real ones in pots over the winter.

Also I am madly adding fabric paint to a too bright yellow fabric, ironing on Heat-n-bond to some orange, cutting out petal shapes, deciding on a vase color for a decidedly odd still life arrangement and….well you get the idea. Then I think I will use a threaded nut like I would add to a bolt for the center of my flowers for my industrially made item. (we’ll see-- maybe a pipe cleaner to make an insect on the leaves).

Have fun and let’s see some WIP soon.
