Maybe if weren't like herding cats there would be more work to look at and less angst!

I am planning to do a challenge quilt for my guild. It's going to be a small quilt...maybe 18" x 24" and I want to make a jellyfish as the central character. I'd like to make the jellyfish 3-D, I have some Japanese silk, tulle, spun silver threads and various yarns to make the tentacles. Just not sure the best way to make the jellyfish stand up off of the quilt. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Stitch124

In my life there is almost never a 'best' way but umpteen wild experiments that give me different oddball results--all are good for something!

But I think I would play with gathering some crystal tulle first and under that a layer with glued in bits of cut ribbon metallic ribbons snipped and wavy, maybe a few sparkles and then see what makes an effect next.........................

Default November Theme

NOVEMBER

Yes I am letting it out early!!!! You need the time to get going on it I bet...............................

This is a little like we have all been doing some mind reading! I had wanted to do an artist or style theme for a while and now here it is proposed! "Just had an idea for November's theme, and it is very self-serving i admit. Rather than do the thankfulness theme that we Americans are so fond of doing, how about, " Choose an artist or style you like and produce a piece that is inspired by it/them. Like, idk, Leger, Picasso, or Kropik?! "
With others already going dibs on their favorites.................. Awesome!

It can wind up a gift if you want to part with it. Or just do this theme for the sheer fun and delight of emulating the style or even exact work of an artist.

Thanks for all of those who chimed in on this one. Let's do it!!!!!!

I like using puff paints. You paint it on, then, heat it.

Two things i gotta say! One, i don't know how to ge t pictures from my ipad to the thread. And two, wait a minute, oh, yeah, two is i misnamed one of the artists. I think it's Kupik, but I'll look it up. My day of the dead is almost done, and I will finish it tomorrow. Creativity is not a faucet kind of thing. Not every minute is spent having revelations, sad but true, at least for me. When i do get a flash, i run with it, and when there isn't one i start looking for the next inspiration, like the Leger exhibit. And Dottie's skulls banner. And sometimes, The colors in the sky, you all know what I'm talking about, i'm sure.

Default Suggestions are welcome.

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions.

I am going to start a new quilt. I've attached a photo of what I want to accomplish.

Currently I have the black portion and the grey portion drawn out and partially cut out. I planned to iron it onto a white background. My idea was to use one or two layers of tulle for some of the sections where I wanted shadow. In my head, I would like to use grey and black thread to quilt in the different sections.

As I get closer to actual assembly of the applique onto fabric, I am second guessing myself.

I know there are many art quilters who subscribe to this thread, and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions on how I should proceed. This is actually only my second attempt at art quilts, so any and all suggestions are more than welcome.
