Stopped at neighborhood Lowes yesterday to get paint chips. Not an easy job. The colors are scattered over all the color palettes. Nice bright colors. Think I will really like this color combo. Excited to pull my bins of fabric and start gathering choices.

I'm shopping my stash for this one, and I hope I will have enough of the lighter orange (peach?). I'm assuming the neutrals will be OK with white, cream, and some shirting. Hope so, anyway! I have only done one other BH mystery and, although I didn't like it at first, I love the finished quilt now.

I’m excited about the colors...I didn’t have any plans on doing this year’s mystery but I may have just been sucked in by the variety of colors. LOL

Thanks for starting up the new challenge thread, Mariposa! I'll be downloading each clue and watching from the fence, cheering you all on! I have way too many UFOs and WIP at the moment.

I'm looking forward to this challenge - thanks for getting the thread up and running!

Even though Bonnie's got two oranges, it's to give you an idea of the range of orange to use (from light to dark) but you don't need both light and dark separately. I think the main goal is to not have any red/orange as you need distinction from the reds.

I'm not going to make the 60 mile trip to look for paint chips so this is what I'm going with as I pick from my stash. Again - this is what I'm going to use to help me pull from my stash - I do need discipline or everything will be aqua or peachy LOL!!

True blue shades, light and dark, avoid those going to purple or green.
Green - light dark going towards the mint shade, but away from aqua/blue - they look a bit more subdued and not the bright greens.
Reds - again more "true reds" so not towards purple and specifically not towards orange
Oranges - light to dark, can go toward yellow a bit, but not towards the red. ( I happen to have a good selection of oranges in my stash - not sure why . . .)
Neutrals - I'm going to avoid any that are leaning towards yellow, and try to stay with those more towards the taupe spectrum.

I was thinking patriotic to donate. I can figure neutrals, red, blue, gold but I think I need one other color. It may have to be brown which is not my favortie,

Thank you, Mariposa, for getting this thread started!

After some thought, I had also decided that the lighter orange wouldn't function as a separate color, since Bonnie gave yardage for 'oranges.'

I love how these bright colors look together, so I will probably go with yardage rather than the duller-colored FQ bundle I had in my stash, even though I am curious to see how those busy FQ prints would work with this mystery.

Anyone who has seen the paint chips in person, do they come across accurately in Bonnie's photos? I'm thinking I won't bother getting them this year.

Let me confess to you how crazy I am! This weekend I will be putting final borders on Jamestown Landing (Bonnie Hunter design);
Next weekend I am taking a class with Bonnie for her Midnight Flight quilt;
I plan to do Good Fortune as it comes out;
I have a Wild and Goosey that I plan to make into a table runner which I take to my weekly sew-in;
I am currently quilting On Ringo Lake from last year's mystery;
And I am taking another class with Bonnie in March for Wonky Wishes!!!!!

Obviously I am demented and a huge BH fan! LOL
