I'm still working away putting my blocks together slowly... the hubby took today off work and we went thrift store shopping, Goodwill was having a huge MLK Jr Day sale. I'll have to admit to a few things in the Fabric Moratorium thread but not too bad... I had planned to spend all day today sewing, as he is about to leave for his bowling league but I think I'm just going to take a bubble bath and turn into a sloth, it's my magical ability.

We had a wicked blizzard here this weekend but I just couldn’t bring myself to work on this. Mostly because I’m a little unsure if I like the reveal or not.

So today I got myself together and got to work. It took about 4 hours to do 5 blocks.... that’s with everything already cut and ready to go. I am a live and let live quilter and usually just let mistakes go.... but with this pattern you really can’t. You have to have things just so or it doesn’t work. I will say that I turned the HST to make boxes instead of stars because I just like it better. And I’m really thinking I’m going to not set it on point.

What do you guys think?

PeaceandJoy - love your colour combos.
QuiltingLawyer - your blocks are truly smashing.
I must have misunderstood the directions because mine are coming out with all darker or all lighter. I guess I need to re-read -- or not. I'm not sure I'm going to use the pieced sashing. Maybe put them on-point with something like broken dishes in-between, since I have many HST that I'm not going to use on the border. Or some other calming block spaced in between. I just realised I do this almost every year with Bonnie's mysteries. I get to the reveal, love Bonnie's version but not my own, so change to something easier.

I really love your blocks and color way! I think either way it will look amazing! I am only doing one block a day once I have a few other things off my plate because of all the little piece work each one will take.

Beautiful blocks peaceandjoy and QuiltingLawyer! I love seeing the different variations of colors on FB also. I think I will only do one block a day to keep myself from making any unwanted mistakes. Enjoying the process. I have finished the tops of two other mysteries while I was working on this one. When my longarm returns from being serviced I plan on quilting those while working on Frolic. Having so much fun and enjoying all your posts.

Love your colors Quilting Lawyer! And I like the blunted corner, pieced snowball-ish thing happening with the sash and 4 patches with the HSTs turned opposite. My description is terrible! The blocks are lovely and I think they'd be nice either way you decide to set them.

I think I can handle one a day. Going to have to figure out how to improve that, as I don't want this hanging around for a month, I want it done so I can move on to other things, lol!
Remember your name, Peaceandjoy! I would be happy with one a day, but I don't have that many days to lolly gag around with a demanding quilt. I will have to work faster or just admire the efforts of others. By the way, I so like the blue with the swirls so much. I have it in green, orange and a deeper blue. My are all scraps from 108 wide backing that I got in Shipshewana, Indiana.

I'm having to take a break from Frolic to work on 2 comfort quilts. Finished this top yesterday and will layer and quilt it tomorrow. Today I had doc appt., errands and the gym. Here is the top I made around an orphan applique block that was gifted to me by a generous board member!

Nice blocks everyone! I like the individual block but find the quilt too busy. I would have to surround the block with sashing to tone it down.
