Happy Late Victoria Day to all the Canadians - I enjoyed finding out about it.

Gardnergal - The Texas star is spectacular! You are going to be really proud of it when it is finished - keep on going!

Works4me - Hooray, the maple leaf looks right at home set in with the red. Pretty hanging too! I've never had the self discipline to finish one project before I start the next...

Yes, the thistle is started, but progress might slow down a bit now because after weeks of cold bad weather, ideal for staying in, suddenly it's roasting. I will have a prickly picture for you soon. And a patriotic treat - not a quilt - I'm keeping you on hooks, you'll never guess!

Hello Ladies,
I have been sew busy... My daughter is making her move to TX this weekend, have been very busy helping her pack and also worked with her to finish her mystery wall hanging. She finished hand quilting it and I helped her with making the binding. She hand sewed that on also. Here is it finished and ready to pack. My dgs is having his third birthday this Monday so Im trying to hurry up and complete the nap blanket to match his pillow so I can wrap it for his present.

Gardnergal - Beautiful TX Star

Works4me - Mystery quilt block looks great. The Canada center for your quilt is looking great

Dublb - Pot holders are like band-aids in my house. We can never have enough. Looking forward to seeing yours.

MUV - You pricked my interest with what your Prickly Picture will be

Have a wonderful day ladies.

What a nice twist on the Mystery block ... are those dragons? If so, W4Me will be impressed!
I'm sure you are starting to miss your DD already. Maybe
DublB could become her Texas Mom?

Well, then maybe the wrong size wasn't so much an error, but more so "planned" !!

dublb - potholder it shall be then. How about a matching apron?

Jenniky - I love how your mystery turned out. Yes, I love dragons. Have forever, as long as I've loved Halloween.

Muv - looking forward to our surprise. And thank you for the Victoria Day wishes. I will probably be dead before they have an Elizabeth Day. Too bad, as she is an amazing woman. Very stable and strong.

I just did a trial run of the applique. I have 60 different stitches on my machine and this is the first time I will use one other than the straight stitch. For buttonholes I use my "old" machine, a metal Kenmore from about 1980. Still going strong. Have decided stitch length and width and have decided to add a piece of foundation paper underneath for added stability. The only place this will really be needed is the stems. Judging by how many times the machine goes over one spot I need to go out and buy more red thread.

Realized the pattern calls for 10-1/2 inch blocks. So, I will have to do a little more adapting as I will be using 12-1/2 inch blocks. Just means I need to figure out my setting triangle sizes. That should be pretty easy, I hope. One step at a time.

LOL The wall hanging is the mystery from the train. The same one that Works4Me just finished. We added dragons to our square to make it a longer wall hanging to put over her bed. My dd is moving to Amarillo so I dont know how close that is to where Dublb is... I have the feeling I will be taking a lot more road trips...to Tx..though. Haha! So the last clue for my mystery patriotic quilt was posted this morning. I almost had the guess correct except its eight blocks across and starts with a 16 patch..I had it starting with an X square. Taking a short break from working on dgs nap quilt. Im pulling yarn through to tie it together and dd is helping me. We are having to use a pair of pliers to pull the needle through all the layers. The material for the binding should be done washing so I guess I will go check on it. Iron and cut my binding strips then I will hand sew the binding on. I find I get better results that way. Hopefully Monday I will be able to start sewing the squares together on my patriotic mystery quilt. Im still behind on dh's quilt but Im sure to get caught up next week.

*** Oh and Dublb I think a matching Apron would be wonderful.

If ya git on I87 & go south till ya git ta Lamesa, then take Hwy 349 south till ya git ta Midland. (Ya might want ta take the loop around Lubbock though.) It takes about 4 hours. This summer we went to Palo Duro Canyon which is just south of Amarillo. If you git a chance be sure & go there. The Grand Canyon is the only bigger canyon in the US! Wow what a place! Imagine travelin' in a covered wagon across miles & miles of plains & suddenly ta come across this great big canyon right under your feet.

Patriotic surprise time - go to the Youtube channel you can see below all my posts, have a look at the latest upload, and see why we all got up at an ungodly time of the morning on Wednesday to wave our flags. Stick it out to the end, because you will get a look inside our local pub!

Good for you Muv, for getting out to see the Torch! It came very near me three times when it crossed Canada for the Winter Olympics ... and thrice I didn't go. At the time, I was saying "why?" ... after I wished that I had been part of the hype! And then beer and breakfast to follow, inside the Pub ... what a way to celebrate the Flame! Have you bought tickets to go to any of the events?

Hello QuiltE - the only effort was getting out of bed... we were a 10 second walk from our front door! The Breakfast Barbecue was a brilliant idea. The landlord is a bright boy.

No, we'll skip the events. Too much effort. It's all on the box anyway.
