W4Me ...............
This one is just for you ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxAKFlpdcfc
Canada D'Eh is absolutely .... Fantastic! Phenomenal! Wonderful!!!!

Your peppermint candy binding .... what an innovative choice and it couldn't have been a better one! The reds are so rich! And what a hoot, your Maple Leaf complete with eh? !!!!!! I can see you keeping the corner turned up all the time, just so everyone can see the label!

BTW ... what size did it finish at?

It was so much more like an ol' fashioned quilting bee, with your showing us Canada D'Eh at various stages of it's creation and evolution. You've been a great leader thru this journey and now you are ready for Canada Day with your Canada D'Eh!!!

I do have ONE request pleeeeeeeease ... I want to see another shot of the front of the quilt, now that it's totally done. Just got to see it as it's fully dressed self! Anyone agree with me?

*giggles* .... fruit crush aka squash aka to those of us on the other side of the pond ........... orange juice!

Muv ... I think we should keep them going on a few more! Are you off celebrating the Queen's "real" Birthday today? And look at all the opportunities for festivities coming up with the Olympics. I'm still waiting to find out if one of our local gals makes it on our Rowing Team!!

JenniKy ... are you going to keep us in suspense as to the frontal look? Good reasonings as to why the firetruck! And so sorry for your back problems ... I know how unsettling it can be (32 yrs ago, two rear enders 4 months apart started my saga). I know you don't want to take any pain meds, but don't fear them to get comfort, so long as you respect them!

Too late now, but another time, you might want to sandwich it on your quilting frame, using the basting spray. I love the stuff ... it's temporary, for a very long time, and things stay put well, while I work with it. For now, go for some good basting lines to hold it there. If you're nervous, make something smaller, with the leftover fabrics (ie table topper? runner?) and do some practice stitching with it as you get your machine set up and ready to go. Once you have it done, you'll know what settings you need, and will feel more at home with what you're doing. We know you
CAN do it!

SewExt ... we're sitting here anxiously waiting to hear and see the results of The Great Race!

As for Me?? and your wondeirng about my non-productivity ... it's coming soon! I promise!! First, I have to put a hanging sleeve on my FWS as my LQS wants it to come on holidays and hang in their shop!!! That's exciting for me!! And then onceI have that sleeve done, I can start thinking of Mr. Monty!

Forget, did I show you the FWS? .... here's a couple of pics (all because I am too lazy to go back thru the previous 571 posts to the thread!)

And here it is on it's little holiday last weekend .....

Canada D'Eh is done. Not happy about the written iron-on portion of the label as it appears, even scorched, it still didn't adhere well. But, I didn't want to redo the maple leaf on the label as it was just too perfect so the label is on anyway.
Two of my machine's 60 stitches. I used a different one for each side border and just meandered. I also used peppermint candy fabric for my binding:...
Looks great. I love your peppermint candy binding.

Sorry your back is bothering you--what is wrong, do you know? I husband hurt his back a year ago--turns out he has 3 bulging discs. He went to a spine specialist for about 6 months--he used ice only not heat. Even though heat feels good, the spine specialist and physical therapist said ice is better. The numbing effect of ice packs helped reduce the pain, too!

I so agree. Years ago I really did the number on my back and could barely walk. I laid on ice packs and had a heating pad on my chest so I wouldn't freeze. It worked so well. Ice is a natural anti inflammatory and a pain reliever. I was walking in a few days.

Jenniky, I am so sorry you are having problems with your back. It isn't any fun. Hope you are on the mend soon. How sweet to have a little guy around.

Jenniky - love the firehouse and looking forward to the rest of your town. I see you are really busy on the forum but sure hope you don't overdo it. Take care of the back.

I, too, have back issues and joint issues I was born with. Add two rear-enders and degenerative disc disease and I know how you feel. My doctor is constantly surprised that 30 pain killers lasts me 6-8 months. Only when desperate. Mind over matter. I look at it this way: if I'm relying on the pain killers now when I am 50, what will happen when I am 60 or 70? I know the joint issues aren't going to get better. But, as QuiltE said, if you have respect for them pain killers can be really helpful. I just added stupidly stubborn to a healthy respect for prescription drugs. I also try out new techniques. Discovered the Alexander Technique about a year ago and am very pleased with the results. It is the first thing I have tried that has actually helped. I am at my full height for the first time in decades. lol

I didn't want to inundate with Canada but I can see your point about wanting to see the front of Canada D'Eh QuiltE:

The quilt is fun as well as patriotic. That's why the name (thanks for the help QuiltE), the maple leaf with EH! and the peppermint candy binding. It finished out at about 43" square so will drape over the front seats of the MINI, which is red with a white roof and white bonnet stripes, perfectly for the car show.

Your quilt looks fabulous QuiltE and I can't wait to see how Monty progresses. Time for you to take over the reins.
Of course, I'll be around. I may even find that I HAVE to do something with the Oh Canada fabric sooner rather than later.

I chose to start with the Fire Department. Because When I asked myself what is the first thing I think of when I think of the Fourth of July. It was Fire Safety and I wanted my 3-P Quilt to be a safe town. So that is where I got the idea. Didnt want to create any Fireworks without the Fire Department on Watch

As for my back and hip. My car was totaled by an elderly lady driver who was chatting with her friends instead of paying attention to the road she ran a red light at approx 60 mph <my estimate> and hit my car. The muscles were torn away from the bones in my hip and created lots of problems with the nerves in my lower back. My muscles tighten/ stiffen up badly sometimes and the Moist Heat helps. Ice usually helps numb but then I still have the problem of not being able to move. So physical therapist recommends Moist Heat for me and lots of stretching. Im hoping once the court case is settled I will have enough money to go to a specialist. At this time Im told there is nothing operable they can do for me. So its all pain management. Quilting sometimes helps me keep my mind off the pain. So I try to focus on it when I can. But there are the bad days. Oh well, so go's life.
I'll tell him. He was totally dedicated and committed to serving. In fact, he is involved in Fire teaching to give back. He worked his way through every rank and the last 5 years of of his career he was the Fire Chief of his department. (I'm a proud wife for sure!)

That is so great that you have the fire department in your quilt town to keep watch!

Sorry to hear about your accident and that the case is going to court. That is such a lengthy process (I worked for a Litigation attorney for 6 years as his paralegal)-and can be so hard on you, especially when you've suffered. Good that you are on top of your pain management and doing what your physical therapist recommends!! Every injury seems different. I hope you have more relief every day!

PS-I didn't see your MQ6 in the Pictures!! (I'm about 1/2 way done with mine....I've been lagging behind on that one as I have several other projects in the works). Didn't get any sewing done today as my DD and my 3 DGbabies (5, 2, & 1) were here and it was chaotic for much of the day (but fun too!) Love spending time with them and get to see them again tomorrow for Father's Day and celebrating my birthday, which is next Tues! I'll also get to see my DS, wife and my other GS as well! Fun with the grandbabies!!

Whoooooooooaaaaa Girl!!!
(fits with the "take over the reins" comment!)

Oh no
W4Me ... I cannot take over the reins from you ... you're stuck with that job for LIFE!!!!!!! Thanks re my FWS .... yes I so want to get at Monty. First must finish the FWS' sleeve, then I promise ... though work doesn't seem to be settling as it normally does at this time of the year. ggrrrr!!! But I won't complain as I take it, when I can get it ... and enjoy it when it's quiet, as that's when I get to quilt without regrets for work that needs to be done.

Canada D'Eh looks even better than I had anticipated ... and I know it'd be even better IRL!
Nowwwwwwww if I could persuade you to take it outside for another pic, I bet you'd get that as close to IRL as possible!! Puhleeeeeeeease? Purdy Puhleeaaaaaaase?

Perfect job done on all those leaves!!

And I can't wait to see what you create with your O Canada fabric!!

QuiltE - I was holding off showing the fire engine until all the smaller pieces are sewed on. I will show it before I move on to making the flowers and vines. I must say that your FWS is SEW awesome..really It's just beautiful.

W4me - Yes I have been busy on the board, I am at my limit of projects at the moment so will not be starting anything else new until I have completed whats on my project board at the moment. I dont plan on signing on for anything new until Fall most likely.

Yayaquilts - I use coffee filters as a stabilizer to help prevent shrinkage. I have the spray baste but I use it very sparingly. I posted my MQ6 in the media section where everyone is posting their finished pictures of MQ6

Well I have dozed off about three times while trying to write this... I suppose I will go lay down until meds from yesterday get out of my system. Im not sleeping away another day hopefully. :/

Thank you all for you kind words and advisement on my pain issues. I slept on ice yesterday with a heavy blanket on top of me. Think I will go lay down now just feel asleep again at the keyboard.. LOL

I give up. Hugs my friends. Have a Wonderful day.

aaaaaha! you're using the Muv instalment plan to keep us intrigued!!! Oh what FUN!!!
I finished my FWS hanging sleeve last night and was so inspired that I started the long awaited sleeve for my OBW. This morning I was figuring out the wording for my FWS Label that MaryKatherine (lives nearby, met her via QB) will do all nice and fancy on her embroidery machine! THEN Mr. Monty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do take care ... and if your weather is like ours today, it's a good day to do nothing but lay low and let your back settle!

Jeanie - Have ya tried some therapy? If ya can strengthen your core muscles then ya won't use the back muscles & they can heal better. It takes a while but could be an essential part of your healing. Well it was for me. I sure hope ya can git past this painful time soon. I also use ice, regularly go ta the chiropractor, still do my exercises, & I had an epidural w/a steroid. All of 'em tagether helped me. I do have a disc problem, & I understand how debilitating pain can be. I know that the epidural won't help ya but the other things might. I see that I'm rambling. I hope that this makes sense ta you.
