Well Im holding off on finishing up my flowers. The bright yellow thread I have is acting horrible. I think it is too heavy wrong kind of thread.. so will have to pay a visit to JoAnns tomorrow and pick up a different type of thread. Here is what I have going so far. I still have more to add to fire engine and the bunting and the sign for the Fire House. Its coming along real fine.

Good morning Ladies! No, I haven't disappeared... I was a bit poorly last weekend, all Sunday and half of Monday in bed, and have been functioning on a flat battery all week.

Anyway, second cup of coffee coming up and here I am.

What fun you have all been having, who would have thought the Patriotic Challenge was going to turn into the International Design Project? As soon as Monty starts taking shape he has an offer of a horse!

Works4me - I love your maple leaf quilt, and it is finished well on time, huge round of applause from across the Atlantic! Raise a glass on Canada Day and consider me there in spirit.

QuiltE - what a lovely album quilt, so much work! And Monty is looking much bigger than I expected. He definitely deserves a horse.

Jenniky - wonderful fire engine and the yellow peony is gorgeous.

Last night I watched the Mounties' Musical Ride on Youtube, completely wonderful. The formation that fascinated me was threading the needle (to be expected, I suppose), then I watched the Household Cavalry's Musical Ride which was totally different, and loved the standard bearers in their pillbox hats. Now there's an idea for a patriotic design, a standard bearer... Not this year.

Perhaps I will finish the thistle today. It's about time, I'm almost there.

Muv Im sorry to hear you werent feeling good.. You were missed as you can tell by our posts. The flowers are suppose to be from the Tulip tree which is the Indiana State Tree. However Im not a botanist so they could be Peonies too.. Thanks everyone for appreciating my firehouse. My firetruck looks kindy of wacky but I was trying to use fabrics from my stash. Even though it looks a bit silly with those huge swirling grills on the front. I still have to put on the side mirrors and headlights and I think I will have to fore go putting the siren atop. Ran out of head space for the truck. Even so the truck has become endearing to me.. LOL Actually it reminds me of a donut truck that use to come around the neighborhood when I was a child selling fresh donuts and hot chocolate or coffee. We had a vegetable truck that came around also and of course every neighborhood has an ice cream truck that comes around playing its merry go round music. Hmmm ideas for blocks 2 and 3.. I'll think on it.

Welcome Back Muv!!
No doubt, you heard us all calling you!!!! So sorry that you weren't feeling so good, but good to know that you are getting better. No doubt that 2nd coffee helped has made the difference!! Glad that you liked Monty ... he will have a wee bit of MM, for me to try your technique. Glad you too enjoyed the Musical Ride ... now would you please show us your Cavalry's talents via a link?

JenniKy ... wacky is always fun and I think that's what this will become as you add on the ice cream truck! I particularly liked the swirly grills, as firemen always shine their trucks so well, the swirls just looked like chrome shining brightly. Could you fit your siren in overtop of the yellow and a bit into the red of the building ... it would just be the optical illusion of having already come thru the door and from a kid's short height, it would appear taller than the opening, but not so IRL. Never heard of neighbourhood veggie trucks, but makes sense. Of course, with me being a farm kid I didn't even know about ice cream trucks until I visited my city cousins one time ... I learned fast! and had great envy!! Any carousels in your parks to add to your continuing blocks for your town? That'd be fun, and let you do a wee pony!

I'm off to get my hair clipped in a few minutes and hopefully find some flesh!! Although unfortunately I will need to get some more mulch to distract me from the development of Monty-man.

Hello Jenniky - I'm much better thanks. Yes, I managed to mix up the tulip tree and the peony and turned them into a yellow tree peony!

Feast your eyes on these horses and imagine what the battles used to be like!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYcmWyeH6D0 and at a big show in Abu Dhabi

And hooray hooray I finished the thistle today. The next block will be flax flowers for Northern Ireland, so for the first time I on this project I will be using blue.

Muv you continue to be an inspiration to me. Next block I am going to do hand stitching... Your handwork is so very beautiful. It will be so very exciting to see your quilt all together.

Ladies love your ideas.. for blocks Im writing all this down in my project design book.
