It is fun. Like the Gypsy Wife, that was fun too.

Anael.....your Boho heart blocks looks wonderful! Looks like a fun pattern! To answer your question above, the large hexi blocks are 10”.

I completed Block 3 and 4 groups. I only needed 2 of each. Only one more large hexi block group to make. The next sets of hexi blocks are a series of 5” size of diverse patterns and those are assembled to make a 10” size....those are the fillers... Those should go together quickly...won’t be long before I’m at the assembly stage.. when I finish the last large group, I’ll take a picture of all of them for you.

I've been pecking away at "Dear Jen" for about a year, and I've just decided to abandon the pattern book. I don't look forward to working on it, even though I love making 6" blocks. I think I'm going to add in blocks from Bonnie Hunter's Addicted to Scraps column, The Splendid Sampler, and other traditional sources to make a throw that's mostly Dear Jen-inspired. This will allow me to begin working on one of Jen's other, more fun patterns.

I think that's a great plan Mkotch! It's your quilt after all so you can decide what to do and how to finish it.

Mkotch - it's a good plan to make a change if it's no longer being fun for you. There are no awards to earn by sticking with something exactly like the pattern. I think that is one reason I prefer not to work off patterns, then I don't have any qualms about going my own direction.

I got sick of everything I was working on, and pushed it all aside and started making blocks for the BOHO Heart. I've got all the 10" and almost all of the 8" done. I'm really looking forward to making the smaller blocks, but am thinking of doing more variety and no applique.

I agree, Cathy. I don't generally follow patterns although I sure did with My Small World. I like making samplers and usually only follow block patterns, putting them together however they look best (to me).

I've been taking a break from most sewing - getting the flower gardens all cleaned up and planted, and then DH and I decided to put tile on the floor in the remodeled basement living area - and guess who does all the tile work in the family! Got a good start and hope to finish up laying tile this weekend.

And then once the basement is done, we'll be remodeling the kitchenette in the addition that is my sewing studio- it's all one big room so I'm not sure how that is going to work, might have to cover my sewing machines during the process. We'll be putting in two partial walls (it has a vaulted ceiling and we are only going up 8 feet) so no real demo and moderate sheetrock work. DH has sheetrock sanders that hooks to a vacuum and it works very well to keep the dust down.

Will be interesting to see how that affects my being able to sew for the summer.
