I've been doing really well all year. No significant purchases except for what was needed to finish a project. However, I did buy some batting on sale for half off at Joann's. But I needed it to finish a project so it doesn't count. LOL

I am off to help with hanging quilts for our local county fair. Will try to post pics later tonight of my latest small purchases and explain why I bought them. Then MSQC had a sparkly charm pack on sale for .07 so I couldn't resist that and then bought another for the regular price. Even with shipping, I think I am still ahead. There I go, rationalizing again. :-) I have a nice quilt pattern that uses charm packs really well. A sparkly quilt sounds like a great one to have on hand for a gift since I am way behind on wedding gifts. Besides, two 'little' charm packs won't take up much room on my shelf, will they??? Come on...will they??? :-)

In the month of July 3 yards of Laurel Birch fabric got used up in a professional tote made by my granddaughter, she also up a classmate bag - 1 1/2 yards, and I'm making another classmate bag using another 1 1/2 yards of stash fabric. I did break down and purchase 3 yards of blue and white star fabric to complete a quilt. The directions on that quilt had the wrong measurements - Two yards of fabric were miscut. The new purchase will allow me to use up those squares so it will be a good thing to use up miscut triangles@!

Nammie: Minimal purchase to finish a project, plus use of six yards from your stash. You did good!

I picked up a few supplies yesterday at my LQS, where I wasn't even tempted by the fabric. Then I went to a local quilt show. It was fairly small, but had quite a few vendors. Again, I didn't even have an interest in looking at anything other than the quilt displays. I guess I really did finally hit my rock bottom for buying fabric!

My grandson is going to a small school that requests that they carry tote bags instead of bulky backpacks..There is little choice out there for boys in totes, so I had to jump off the wagon and purchased 2 yards of marvel comic book fabric, and a yard for lining...I was able to make his tote with a front pocket and a matching reusable lunch bag..Not only that I made a second set for his best friend. Technically this wasn't stash, because it was all used in about 3 hours of entering my home!! Each set total only cost me about $10!!

Good job, Pat. I personally am not against buying fabric and using it - it buying it and storing it that is my moratorium.

I fell off the wagon. I did plan on spending some at a shop hop as a reward for stop smoking, however, I spent much more than I planned. I added 6 yards of fabric to my stach.

It was really fairly easy. I found the instructions at the link below and just modified it. I'm doing another one out of the same jelly roll and charm pack, but I'll be modifying the middle section again. Instead of the last initial, it'll probably have the last name, so the parents can use it for future children or pass it down if they choose, which will require a bit more room. The pattern calls for Jungle Bungle fabric, which is what I used, but I think it'd be cute made from the "Ten Little Things" or "Oink-a-doodle-moo" fabric groups too.

oksewglad-- i would make a dresden plate quilt, and/or a crazy quilt. every rime i find a sale on silk i pick some up for "the quilt". what are you going to make of them?
