What did I miss?

Okay quilters, going to get really serious today. Those six quilts that are not sandwiched? Going to do as many as I can today. I use an old fashion quilting frame to sandwich so at least I don't have to crawl around on the floor. Wish me luck.

Good luck Miss Emma! I think the most important thing about getting a lot accomplished is having a goal when you start. You are on the right track!

Thanks coopah. I moved some blocks around and changed out an easier one :) And now I'm moving on to borders. I bought this fabric for a mystery, with help from the shop owner to pick fabrics. And I HATE the border fabrics I ended up with. They don't match, are a completely different design than anything else in the quilt, and really dark. So, I hunted for other options (I have none in my stash - and I will NOT buy more for this quilt). Finally decided, since I had a pile of fabric leftover, that I could use 3 of the main fabrics from the quilt for my borders. I'm not sure why I ended up with so much fabric, but I'm not complaining about that.

Here are the first 2 borders (on 3 sides). The final border will be the dark purple. Plugging along today, hoping to finish this weekend.

Did I really say that I would sandwich 6 quilts in one day? I must have been totally delirious. Well turns out it is more like one a day. Good news is I have sandwiched 3, bad news is I found two more UFOs I had forgotten.

So Emma, how do you sandwich your quilts? Will you quilt these on domestic machine then?

OK: I use one of those stand alone hand quilting frames. One of the things I envy about the folks that have a long arms is the ease in sandwiching. So I figured why not use a frame in the same way. I found one for $40 in a second hand store. I put the quilt together the exact same way I would if I really were going to hand quilt it. Knock on wood, I never have had a fold or crinkle because I can maintain the tension as the top layers are added. I use my home machine, a Brother 1500, which has a nine inch harp. I'm not great at FM but figure after this six are done I should be a lot better. This brings up something I was thinking about. How long does it take you folks to sandwich a quilt? My quilts are all 92 X 92 or larger. Sandwiching includes cutting the batting to size, piecing it if necessary, checking the back to make sure I have a couple of inches on each side (had to add an additional row on the most recent) and layering using spray adhesive. It takes me 4 to 5 hours.
