Good job on the house. Could you send Rocky right over. I have taken my lone star and put it back in the UFO tub and back on the shelf. I fixed the one thing that made it a UFO, but now I do not know what I want or how this will end up. I want a queen sized quilt and right now it is 51 inches square. and my fabric is limited. Marcia

Conchalea 12-20-2018 05:11 AM

Congrats on selling your house, Teen! I know it’s exciting, but also stressful at the holidays.
Marcia, could you finish out the corners as shown, then add some of the cream as borders? Make the top & bottom borders wider, then add more of the coordinating colors to tie it all together. Your color scheme is striking.

retiredteacher09 12-20-2018 05:00 PM

Congratulations, Teen!

Marcia: Very pretty.

I shared these two on another thread earlier this week but they are UFO's that sat nearly a year in a bin and were finished this fall. I am part of the 2.5" Birthday Swap group here on the Board and well, I got behind in using my 2.5 squares. I have lost track but between these two quilts I have used about 1800. of the squares. Still more to go from previous years swaps, maybe 2000 and then about 1600 from my 2018 birthday swap. These little ones are going to rest for a while while I attack some UFO's and my scrap bin. Very pretty, WMUteach! Congratulations on finishing them.

Battle Axe 12-21-2018 06:06 PM

WMUteach love the border treatment using the 2 1/2 inch squares.

Rhonda Lee 12-21-2018 06:48 PM

Love this thread and I'll be back next year. It helps me keep on track with what needs to be done. I love the stories about the UFO's, the beautiful finishes, the sense accomplishment. Also getting to know you all. Such wonderful folks.

oksewglad 12-21-2018 08:27 PM

Two very nice finishes WMUTeach...doesn't it feel good to have them done...the rainbow with black is very striking and the first one looks like a fun one to wrap up in and read a good book with!

Hello UFO'ers, just one question, 'who stepped up to be the new conductor to the train?' Was it decided the method of reporting monthly totals as Rob Ryder suggested. Just report to the conductor via PM. Then, continue to show your pictures as usual. Am I suggesting too much to keep the train in motion? Well it was a thought, have a happy holiday everyone

Conchalea 12-25-2018 12:26 PM

I finished my daughter’s UFO this morning! WE’re both thrilled with it & now it can leave my house & go on her bed. My problem-what do I work on now??
I'll post a picture when I get home & can use my laptop to upload the picture we took today.

retiredteacher09 12-25-2018 04:58 PM

cherrybsixty: Happylab will continue being our conductor but without total counts.

Conchalea: Congratulations on the finish!

Thanks Connie, I missed that post, but glad to hear that the train is in motion for 2019. happy new year everyone. I will try to clear somethings off my UFO table and the same wishes for every one aboard

Happy New Years, everyone!! See you in 2019!! Be safe....

WMUTeach 12-26-2018 06:11 PM

Well, Since I did not make my goal for 2018, I decided to clean up/straighten up my sewing room and bag all my UFO's in zip lock bags and put them in one bin. The bin is full. Some just need sandwiching/quilting while others are just in need of more dedication and persistence. Worked on two UFO's today but neither will be finished this year. And yes, Happy New Year's to all and see you in 2019, right here on the QB.

Finally, The t-shirt UFO is done!

Hey all, I finally managed to finish my cousin's t-shirt quilt. I stabilized the t-shirts and deconstructed them several years ago, and then it sat and sat and sat until I pulled it out of the UFO pile in Sept. My goal was to get it done for her 75th birthday which was the end of Oct. but, obviously that didn't happen. I did show her the partially pieced top on her birthday so she would have something to look forward to LOL! It's lap size- 72" x 54".

Rob

Conchalea 12-28-2018 02:49 PM

Great T-shirt quilt, Rob. I admire your persistence in getting this one done.

Teen 12-28-2018 03:14 PM

It looks great, Rob! Congrats on getting this done...phew!

zozee 12-28-2018 03:45 PM

Good looking t-shirt quilt, Rob. Bet your cousin loves it.

petthefabric 12-28-2018 03:53 PM

From the T-Shirts, it seems she is also artistic. Love it.

oksewglad 12-28-2018 04:39 PM

We were beginning to think this was just a story you were telling us Rob...ha ha...guess you got it done! Love the juxtaposition of colors. Looks like you had great subject matter to work with!

WMUTeach 12-29-2018 04:30 AM

Well, I dove into the UFO bin and finished two tops this week. Then went diving into the the stash and found backing for one. Today is my guild work day and I will be sandwiching my two UFOs as well as the guild exchange block quilt for 2018 giving me plenty of binding and hand sewing to do in the next few weeks. So, watch for some actual finishes from me in January! :) I just love Christmas Vacation weeks. I can forget my teaching long enough to have some fun at the sewing machine.

One more for 2018, I'm going to count it even though it still needs borders. The majority is finished. It was my oldest UFO, so old the fabric was from Walmart. Fortunately, I have plenty of fabric for borders.

oksewglad 12-29-2018 09:03 AM

Battle Axe...great 2 color quilt.

FYI, I used to be able to buy some nice fabric flat folds from Walmart (think South Seas Imports for one). At the time for just $2 a yard..I'd often buy 6 yards at a time...makes a backing for a 80 x 100 quilt. I'm still using those fabrics as such. Okay now you know why I'm on the Fabric moratorium thread!

rryder 12-29-2018 01:28 PM

Thanks everyone! It wouldn't have gotten done if it weren't for this thread LOL!

Battle-ax- love the two color quilt.

Rob

Rhonda Lee 12-29-2018 03:27 PM

Like the T shirt quilt rryder. Will be doing one for a granddaughter this year. Like your quilt Battle ax. Id call it a finish too!

Happy New Year everyone.

Teen 12-29-2018 06:47 PM

Great finish, Battle!

Here is the picture of my daughter's UFO quilt I finished on Christmas morning. It's queen-sized & she said it's so warm she's had to kick it off a few nights. That's unusual for her because she's so cold-natured. She's very pleased with it.

happylab 12-31-2018 08:27 PM

Battleaxe, lovely quilt top. I love your colors.

Conchalea, very nice finish. I like the colors and pattern.

FYI: the 2019 thread is now open. So please post all future comments on that thread. I’m sending message to close the 2018 thread (this one). Thank -you everyone for supporting this thread this year. I really like this thread. Such lovely completed projects from everyone. I love them all. Until next year, happy sewing and quilting.

QuilterMomma 01-01-2019 01:29 PM

I had some finishes, but did not get on here to report. I am sorry. I finished Elf on Shelf, then had enough for another quilt, my blue and white block swap I won, my Cotton and Steel Irish chain, two Thanksgiving wall hangings, and two snowman table runners. I have pics, but they are on phone which is not behaving itself for uploads. Oh gosh, technology 1, Beth 0.

Teen 01-01-2019 02:16 PM

Beautiful, Conchalea!!

Conchalea 01-01-2019 02:23 PM

Thanks, Teen. My daughter put together the long blocks then put it aside for a while. I joined the long blocks into panels & quilted & bound it. It’s pretty heavy.
