Great news, Wonky star!

I scrounged through my golds again today, and found enough to make 23, if I use a very juvenile banana print to go with my more 'serious' reproduction prints.

Thank You

Thanks for the welcome and the suggestion.

Here we go!

This is a big HST unit for Bonnie! And there are sets! I hope we don't lose any participants because of the sets. (Being kind of an orderly type, I enjoy the sets myself.) I don't have that number of gold fabrics, so will have repeats. (Who else thinks this could be a huge clue about the number of blocks we'll have, and the setting?)

Harper61, welcome to the QuiltingBoard and to the mystery! You certainly couldn't go wrong making a sample clue out of muslin first. Bonnie does recommend checking your unit size before taking off and sewing the whole gazillion at once.

I sewed along with Edyta Sitar's covid shutdown mystery last spring (my first experience of Edyta -- so charming!). She does things the old-fashioned way, and I tried her method of HSTs, simply cutting the squares, halving them on the diagonal and sewing the two triangles together. I love the fact that they are far quicker/easier for me to cut that way than with the Easy Angle, and there are no extra actions, like drawing lines or tearing papers away.

Clue 1 is cut and ready to sew! I had to pull from my yardage stash to get big enough strips for this one. Maybe other clues can come from those many totes of small pieces. These are not colors I would have normally put together, but I'm liking them. I will be using some light yellow-golds for my orange since these "golds" are butterscotchy and too close to any orange I tried.

I am only doing, roughly, half the units for a smaller size quilt. Likely have to make more units later once layout revealed but, for now, I completed this clue..

I think I'm going to do the same. I haven't even grabbed my fabrics yet. I need to get moving!

Teen, your colors are lovely.
Joe's Mom, thanks for posting the link to the first clue. I have never been able to find them easily. I would like to save the clues just in case I decide to make the quilt later on. I will be doing several other mystery's this winter and don't want to take on too much particularly if BH goes tiny.

This first clue is doable and tempting me to jump in but.....not quite yet. What would I do with all of those HSTs if I didn't like the next steps. Yikes! I will just lurk for a while on this thread.

I also made Edyta's quilt and loved the experience. I agree, out off all the methods I have used, hers was the fastest and most accurate. I should have printed it out just to save her methods.

I’m only doing approx. 2/3 of the units and managed to get 4 sets done tonight. I tried Bonnie’s triangle tool and thought it was pretty cool!

It's such fun to see everyone's photos, and they are looking beautiful! leheath8, wow to that purple!

When I originally pulled my golds, I had more tending toward mustard, so went with those. Today, attempting to get to 23, I had to incorporate the butterscotch tones, and they do clash with the mustards. Eventually, I may have to eliminate some and go with repeats, but for now, I'm having fun with all of the combinations. I had to take a long break for my back, which I managed to aggravate somehow this week, but I hope to finish cutting my gray/gold combos today.
