I did a huge purge in my sewing room right before Christmas. I donated a lot of duplicate fabric and fabric i new I wouldn't use.I tend to get in a rut and keep buying the same fabrics over and over. I was bored with it. I need all my fabric to fit in a certain amount of space. Because I have other hobbies that need to fit in that space also. It's a good size room. So, in theory, it should all work. lol I did do a bit of fabric shopping right after Christmas because i do sew other things besides quilting. So, needed a few things there. But, I cleared enough space for it to fit in. But, I am out of room until I get sewing again. I am still having a hard time finding the motivation to sew. But, I will get there. A little fresh fabric tends to motivate me to branch out. I made sure to pick something different. I just want to support and receive support to Not add to it all again. So here I am hoping to get control of my OCD nature. I have done a lot better of staying out of the craft stores and online stores. And, staying within my budget.
And, I am not worried about the stuff I leave behind. My husband and son know my favorite thrift store. Someone will be able to use it. I'm more worried about the UFO's i would someday leave behind. So, off to the UFO thread I go. |
Sounds like everyone is doing good at controlling stash and having plans not to add more. I finally finished the Cuts and Bolts NYE quilt. The pic is in the thread I started that got moved to links and resources. https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...b-nye-2022.jpg That makes 5 quilts finished (flimsy stage) this month. The other four are very simple charity quilts. So I'm starting the year out strong. When I have them quilted I'll post pics.

Belfreybat, what a lovely traditional RWB/tan quilt. Clean and simple. I did not follow the thread because I just had too many things going on. Now, I wish I had. That would make a charming baby quilt perhaps in another color way or maybe not. :)

I am inspired by you both Belfrybat and Julienm1!!
When I am stressed I like to go fabric shopping. I am stressed. No looking at stores online for me today. I am housebound for the next few days so the trips to the local stores -- and there are wonderful stores here! -- will stay away for the next few days. I will be reading this moratorium over and over to keep me strong. I do have quilting projects to work on but those are hard when I have too many tasks to do at home like right now. My mantra: I will master my stress and quilt. I will master my stress and quilt. |
PL tomorrow. I have my quilts and some donations to move into their next home.
I love doing "boy" and particularly teen boy quilts for PL...maybe because I have one of my own. I cant help but look at him sometimes and think "what it"? |

Belfrybat: Very pretty!
Julienm1: Way to stay strong! ibex94: You can master your stress and quilt. Rff1010: ❤️. Good reasoning. Well, through no fault of my own other than I didn’t say ‘No, thank you’, I came home with a bag of quality cotton fabric today from my sewing group. It was sitting on the chair where I sit at my friend’s house to sew. 🤷♀️ |

Retiredteacher09 - I would have had trouble saying no to that bag, too! Those butterflies!!! I'm sure those fabrics will soon find a happy home in a quilt. :-)
Ibex94 - I'm struggling with the same temptations and challenges right now. I have stuff I can work on for a quilt but also have a lot of other things that have to happen around the house, so what did I do with my time? Looked at pinterest and read the QB forum! Go figure. :-) That being said, I didn't buy any new fabric and I saw so many great stories of quilts made and temptation resisted! This thread is proving to be such a great place to come to when a bit of inspiration or strength is needed. :-) |
