Tranum, it sounds like you have a plan for the recent purchase so I think you get a pass on this one. LOL I probably couldn’t have walked away empty handed at those prices either. Sew on, my friend, sew on.

Fabric Enabler but trying to be better here -- Fabric Moratorium has historically had a pause from Black Friday to New Years. Because fabric does happen! Tranum, you were just a bit early :p

I'm still feeling guilty over the tub of fabric I bought, and even worse about the fabrics that joined the package when all I really needed was a back. I've starting making myself wash the fabric as soon as it comes in the house (or at least gets out of the package). It does make me mindful of whether I want that extra piece of fabric when I think of the work ahead, the prewashing, the dreaded ironing, and the putting away...

I've given away a significant portion of the tub already, have plans for the very nice vintage bits, and have actually used a couple of pieces, and prewashed some more for potential Bonnie Hunter use. And, as of this morning I have the extra fabrics (won't do the back until I'm ready to use) washed, folded and those that are potential Bonnie fabric have joined their groups.

So we win some/we lose some -- but the struggle is real!

Once again, I find myself realizing that the Fabric Moratorium is so subjective and flexible. Some of us want/need a firmer hand when it comes to actual acquisitions and for some it's more of an exercise in mindfulness. Being intentional about shopping or assigning a role to newly acquired fabric, however it happens, is a good thing and I applaud and celebrate those moments from our recent stories/confessions/posts. :-D

Well said, Gemm! Intention and mindful covers all of our perspectives.

How ya doing moratorium pals? Don't forget to count all of those Christmas gifts your making as part of your fabric leaving your stash. .

I'm not doing much sewing right now, but on the bright side, I'm also not shopping for any fabric! Good reminder about the little bits of stuff moving out of stash in the form of Christmas gifts. :-)

I bought a yard of Christmas fabric to wrap guild party gifts. That yard will go out next week so it zeros out I suppose. I don’t make gifts for the holidays so not much stash will be leaving. Hopefully some of you will be doing a lot of gifting and that fabric stash will diminish. Happy sewing everyone!

I bought 1.25 yards of fabric today, the quarter yard will be used this week and the one yard piece is for a challenge quilt that won't be finished until April 2026. On the plus side, I passed on another 3.5 yards of Christmas scraps today to a fellow quilter. In the end a plus for this month.

I finished a baby quilt and gifted it, but given all the fabric I over-purchased, once on accident, once to save money, I’m not sure I came out with less fabric than when I started.

Other than that, pure failure. I bought a yard of fabric for Christmas table runners, and for yards for the backing of a quilt I’ ve barely started. But I’m feeling optimistic. If I use these fabrics for what I bought then for, no harm no foul. They will use up fabrics from my stash as well.

Butterrflylue, chin up and press on. It takes time to get on the moratorium wagon and to stay on it long term. We have all fallen of the wagon from time to time when we see good bargains, inherit a fellow quilter's stash or need a special backing. For me, and this is only my two cents, is to look at what I have on hand first. Being familiar with what you have in your stash and what you really, really like and use helps random purchases. Knowing what you have will keep you from picking up duplicates even at a bargain price. A bargain may not truly be a bargain if you already have the same piece in your stash already. :) Smile and keep quilting.
