How about jute pulled apart. I used to use that a lot .

This was a fun block. Here is my "Joy the Pig" I was busy working on my jelly roll rug and couldn't decide on embellishments but definitely going to as I see how wonderful so many of yours look and there are a lot more on the Facebook page. I want to try and do QAYG with this quilt as I think the blocks will be the same size. Haven't done a QAYG before so have to do a bit of research and will wait until I have a few more blocks to get started. Oh and by the way, there are almost 4000 people on the Facebook page doing this BOM. We are not alone.

I’ve been busy with promise to myself to finish a quilt for my sister and some UFOs before I start something new. I finished Carole’s quilt and two tablerunners. Finally gave myself permission to do the first block from Fun on the Farm. I’m new to applique and couldn’t figure out how to turn corners using the satin stitch on my machine. So maybe not as much fun as I was hoping. The results are not stellar, but, heh, I’m learning something new. Here is my version of Joy. I didn’t have ric rac around so I used an old stretched out head band for Joy’s tail. Also I wanted to put something in each block that reminds me of the month I made it. I had some apple ribbon on hand, and it reminds me of back to school. I’m not sure I think it aesthetically contributes to the block, but I’m leaving it there. By the end of this BOM, I’ll be better at applique.😁

Really enjoyed checking in now and then to see everyone's creative process. So many beautiful Joys! I esp. liked sJen’s ribbon tail and Teen’s blooming tail. I liked Lawsonmug’s blue sky......it created such pretty contrast with other colors. Mandyrose included a fence! Great idea. So many fun blocks. More to come!

when you make one block per month, it does not interfere with the other quilts we are making. But I do get anxious to see the next block......
