I'm sewing like there's no tomorrow hahahaha. I found a few mistakes.......they will stay in the quilt. One is quite obvious - I think - but the other one(s) not so.
Section 3, 4 and 6 are finished too and attached to the top. Now there's section 1, 2 and 7 left. My designwall will be too small for the whole quilt.

I will make another Gypsy Wife, like the Starry Sky one, with blues, yellows and greens. It will be so different from this one, one might not even recognize it's the same pattern!
Who's in for a second wife? :D :D :D

I might be ready for a first Gypsy Wife at some point Anael. But, I can't put it in my schedule yet. I would need to buy the pattern. But, it is quite pricey and I have not heard good things about how it is written. But, you don't seem to be having any problems at all with it. Have corrections been made and is it an easy pattern to follow?

And, as far a mistakes, this quilt is so busy, there are no mistakes. At least as far as I can see.

Anael, You top is looking great. Those light strips in there really make a difference. Otherwise, I think you would loose a lot of work in the individual blocks.

No, it's not an easy pattern, though the blocks aren't hard to make. The way Jen has written the instructions there's quite some waste of fabric which I personally don't like. So I'm either paper piecing my blocks or follow my own plan ;) Some corrections have been made, I didn't come upon mistakes. Like Macebaby said, there is one spot where you could have done the strips differently - not cut them between sections - but I didn't feel like doing it again. And it won'te be noticed once the quilt is finished.
The hard part is planning the whole thing - or not and end up with a very wild quilt where patterns get lost in the process. I've seen quilts where there's hardly any difference between blocks and strips.
I didn't plan the strips, I'm cutting them as I go and thus deciding on colours as I go too.

I was thinking one way to get the blocks to stand out more is to make sure to use a contrasting fabric for the blocks with sashing. I've also thought of doing it using all types of "star" blocks and making them in sizes so I can put sashing around all of them. I like the look of the stronger horizontal lines around the blocks to break up all the vertical lines.

When I made mine, I thought I'd not like all those square in a square blocks, but after I put it together I really liked having a bunch of them.

I agree about the contrast needed. I might have done a few blocks differently, having realized just that.
That's the hard part about this quilt, you need to plan it all before starting to cut fabrics.
But it's never too late for a second one :D :D
I like the square in a square too, I just didn't like making that many so I made one or two differently.
