I am new to my neighborhood and am hoping to host a cookie party. A bit daunting but I think it could be fun to have some kids and parents over.

I think a cookie party/exchange is a great way to warm up to your neighbors! Everyone loves cookies and the kids will be sure to have a great time too In my neighborhood the all-time-kids-favorite is my peanut butter cups (i.e. imagine a super fresh Reese's p-butter cup!) which I put red/green/white sprinkles on the top to make them kinda sorta holiday festive. I know they're really not cookies but they are, by far, the favorites on the plate!

I get lots of requests for peanut butter blossoms but use chocolate melt wafers instead of kisses.

A new recipe for my Christmas baking tradition.

1 box Brownies
1 pkg Red Peppermint mini marshmallows.
Semi-sweet choc chips.

Bake brownies per directions on box. Soon as you take from oven spread a layer of the mini marshmallows, place a cover of alum. foil. crimp tight. Let set for 20 min. Melt in Microwave semi -sweet choc. chips to frost marshmallows. Then I add festive sprinkles. These were a hit both places I took these to.

  • Christmas Eve Cookie
  • 3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 10-oz. pkg. Andes Peppermint Crunch Chips or chunks(Red pkg.)
  • 1-1/4 cups butter or margarine (2-1/2 sticks) , softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


[h=2]DIRECTIONS[/h]
  • 1. Heat oven to 350°F. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  • 2. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with mixer until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in peanut butter chips. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 3. Bake 8 to 9 minutes. (Do not over bake; cookies will be soft. They will puff while baking and flatten while cooling.) Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 54 cookies.
  • PAN RECIPE: Spread batter in greased 15-1/2x10-1/2x1-inch jelly-roll pan. Bake at 350°F 20 minutes or until set. Cool completely in pan on wire rack; cut into bars. About 4 dozen bars.
  • ICE CREAM SANDWICHES: Prepare CHEWY CHOCOLATE COOKIES as directed; cool. Press small scoop of vanilla ice cream between flat sides of cookies. Wrap and freeze.
  • HIGH ALTITUDE DIRECTIONS:
  • -- Increase flour to 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons.
  • -- Decrease baking soda to 3/4 teaspoon.
  • -- Decrease sugar to 1-2/3 cups.
  • -- Add 2 teaspoons water with flour mixture.
  • -- Bake at 350°F, 7 to 8 minutes. Yield increases to about 6 dozen.
  • Our all time favorite Xmas cookie.

Fannie Mae Fudge



4 cups sugar

1 cup whole milk

1 tsp vanilla

25 large marshmallows

1 cup real butter

13 oz pkg chocolate chips

2 oz (squares) unsweetened chocolate

13 oz milk chocolate

1 cup milk



Mix sugar, milk, butter, and vanilla. Let boil for exactly two minutes. Turn heat off. Add marshmallows; stir until melted. Add chocolates one at a time. Heat until melted.

Spread into a 12 x 10 x 1 buttered pan. Makes 5 lbs.

It seems like packaging weight has changed over the years so buy the closest you can find and time the boil when it reaches a rolling boil. This is really a no fail fudge and delicious!
