My brother, his wife, and sister-in-law from Russia are coming for dinner this weekend. I'm drawing a blank on what to cook for them. What recipes do you like to cook for your guests?... bonus points for fast and easy.

Roasted whole chickens,stuffing put in oven at same time,baked spuds. Make a nice green salad,some frozen dinner rolls. Strawberry short cake. Yum!

I like to prepare a regional dish for guests from out of the country. I live in a coastal area, so fresh local seafood would be the main course. I tend to prefer simply prepared vegies to those with a heavy dressing or sauce. This time of year we eat roasted or grilled asparagus, fiddle heads, new carrots new potatoes etc. Dessert would be something regional too or at least Canadian, like Nanaimo Bars, Butter Tarts etc. Something make ahead. Local wines, locally roasted coffee, locally grown tea and we are set.

I have a group coming in this summer. So one day I am going breaded pork chops, cabbage and noodles, and a vegetable. And of course home made lemon and custard pie

cabbage & noodles? that sounds wonderful....amd i have never come across the idea in any of the old regional cookbooks i have collected over the years. how do you, not the inet prepare something like this?

We have had exchange students come from Russia and they loved turkey, because it is not a regular dish over there. And the other favorite was home-made tacos. Another thing that was so loved and we are asked for Ranch Dressing - so whenever we send a package we include the powdered packages of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing.

Tossed salad,baked chicken and baked potatoes, A mixed veggies such as broccli, carrots, celery, etc, and fresh fruit and angel food cake for dessert. Yummy. Keep in mind all the colors in a meal. Color helps to set the tone for the meal. Hugs

I cannot resist the urge, so here goes. Your post is titled "recipes for guests" and my first thought was how do you want to cook them? Roasted or baked. Couldn't resist. Otherwise I would cook like I would for family visitors, they are probably eating a lot of rich foods that they are not used to. Make it simple
