Did not mean to ridicule anyone, we were just expecting to learn a new hint, not something we already knew. But seems like many of the others did not know this. This morning I mentioned this to a friend and she said she would NEVER, EVER put a spoonful of water in her jar of sauce or whatever, as it would surely ruin it! But then she "cooks" but heating things already prepared in the microwave. I don't call that cooking. Guess I'm just old fashioned !

That sounds like a trap to me to get you to stay longer.

I've been doing this for years, but when we were newlyweds, and poor, we used this same method in our remodeling:
I shouldn't say we, because I had nothing to do with this:
We bought an old house and really wanted to paint the green living room walls. So, we painted using Sears paint, $10 a gallon. He got the room nearly done, and decided he was going to make that last gallon of paint last to the end, so he added water!!!!!
There were a few spots that the green could be seen through the tan.
We laugh about it now

Well duh who doesn't know that. I thought you were going to say the best cooking tip ever was to get your husband to take you out to dinner

This makes me think of all the tips I read in magazines where people are paid $25 - $100 for their tips and they are things I have been doing forever. lol

I did not even need to attend cooking school to know that tip.

So do I! I cut the bottom from the plastic containers, after squeezing as much as possible from them, then just stick my fingers inside and ream the rest out as needed then put the tube in a "used" and "washed" plastic bag to keep the product fresh until I use it all. It is a little bit of trouble but I can use some things for another week or so depending on what it is.
