Default Incredible Chocolate Cake

Just saw the recipe for Drunken Guacamole and thought I'd post a friend's take on Devil's Food or chocolate cake mix. I've done this many times and get rave reviews.

Replace 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 cup bourbon. Follow the rest of the directions to bake and frost as you usually would. This doesn't taste like bourbon; it gives the chocolate a deeper, smoky kind of taste. Some people find the 1/2 cup too much; you might want to try 1/3 or 1/4 cup the first time. Just be sure to use less water and an equal amount of bourbon so the amount of liquid used is the same that the box calls for....don't use the full amount of water called for PLUS the bourbon.

Yes, it's that easy and yes, the bourbon makes a lot of difference in the flavor!

Thanks for the tip. I do something like this with brownie mix. I substitute cold coffee for water and add a splash of Kahlua to the batter. Sooooo good.

For the brownie mix, I use all Kahlua and now water or coffee. The cake sounds good, since I am a chocoholic, I will give it a try!

Did you know that chocolate cravings are now a biological thing ? They did a study on it .. LOL so blame your parents for your chocolate cravings ! Mom's who ate chocolate during pregnancy are the reason we crave chocolate. My mom musta ate a WHOLE lot of chocolate !LOL is all I am gonna say and that is my story !LOL

Oh dear no wonder I am mad about tomatoes. My ate all she could while pregnant with me. She didn't eat chocolate and I'm not fussed about it. But like her love hard boiled sweets.
