The name "grits" is a bit difficult to consider as something good if you haven't had them. My family eats them with butter, salt, and pepper - and hubby puts fried egg on his, but I like mine as above. We always have grits in our pantry. :-)

Sorry, forgot to click on the "quote" button and ended up with a double-post.

I love to pile my grits on hot buttered toast. I will definitely try the grits cake.

Butter, salt, pepper mostly; however, a casserole made with grits is also good. As are all the ways you can think of making them; and a fried egg on top or some cheese is also good. Also good with red eye grave or sausage gravy or gravy, jut endless possibilities.

reminds me of the story of the northern family who stop in a restaurant down South for breakfast. The young son orders eggs and the waitress says, Do you want grits with that? He looks at her quizzically and she says, Hominy grits? He says, I think I could eat two if they are small...

We also enjoy Split Grit Soup.

Lewis Grizzard wrote a book entitled:
"Don;t Set Under The Grits Tree With Anybody Else But Me.
