believe it or not, DH and I have actually had an argument over how to drain tuna. I forget who won.

That's what I do and then I save the juice for Bess (the dog) and put it in her dry kibbles. Then I put it in a colander and rinse it out and then literally by hand squeeze the juice out and put it in my bowl for salad or my bowl for sandwiches. Works like a charm and have been doing this for years and years. Then I know it is rinsed out good and moisture sqoze out! How's that for a word? Edie

I drain mine in a metal sieve. I like mine drained well. My four cats love the water off of it, so I always open two cans. What spoiled felines!

I use the can lid or the lid size squishy thing. I run water over the can and compress several times to get the oily water off. I just watched a Modern Marvels just the other night on tuna and they said that Americans prefer their tuna packed in water and Europeans prefer oil.

That's what I do too. The kitties make a fuss when they hear the manual can opener, and they hang around in the kitchen until they're sure I'm going to give them a treat. And then... they like the fishy water better than the fish. That's a puzzle, but I get to eat tuna.
