Default ISO: Wet Burrito Recipe

When we first moved to upper Michigan, everyone told us we had to try the wet burritos and we loved them! Now, after moving south, I not only can't find a wet burrito anywhere around here, I can't find the recipe I had gotten out of the Electric company newsmagazine when we lived up there.
I would love to get an authentic Michigan recipe. I've looked online and nothing seems right. The places that we liked best were from The Grand in Ludington and The Stockade in Wellston.
If anyone has one of these, or a recipe from that area, please pass it on. I know there was Enchilada sauce in the sauce, but can't remember what else. It's the sauce that makes them soooooooooooooo good.
Thanks,
Carol B

Try googling "wet burritos". There are lots of recipes out there. I had never heard of them, but now I have something else to try. They sound really good. I used to vacation in the UP when I was a kid - back then the dish to have was "pasties" with a short "a". I don't think they even knew what a "burrito" was back then.

I make my burritos out of shreaded beef, cheese, refried beans, guacamole and sour cream. After they are rolled up, I pour a potato chip dip over the top. Safeway brand has a tomato based one with pineapple thats really good.

I bet you could write to the electric company and request the recipe...or maybe they have it on their website.

If you find the recipe you like, could you please share it?

Good luck!

The secret to the whole thing is getting the sauce right. I know the recipe called for ENCHILADA sauce, but I can't remember what else was added to it. I thought that some of the meat was added to it, but a recipe I saw lately said to add some of the enchilada sauce to the meat mixture, so maybe my memory didn't serve me right.
I have thought about calling the electric company, but on their website, there is only a wet burrito casserole, and they would probably direct me to the website.
I'm hoping to find something similar soon. I was hoping that there was someone on the board that lived in that area and would have some area clones. And, yes, when I find it, I will share it.

When we lived in Southern California, Imperial Beach to be specific, there was a wonderful Mexican restaurant there called Lydia's. Their wet burritos were to die for. Their sauce had a little tomatoe in it, but it was clearish and not red like tomato or enchilada sauce. It did have a little reddish to it because it had tomato pieces in it, but you could see thru the sauce. Ahhh, drooling memories.

If you deep fry your "wet" burrito and top it with enchilada sauce, sour cream and grated cheese, we call that a chimichanga in Arizona.
