One of my favorite restaurants in our area is Simona's, run by an older Italian couple. The place isn't fancy, there's always opera music on in the dining room and some Italian radio station playing in the back. Arturo does the cooking and Simona runs the front of house. I just love her. We always chat about this and that, especially about her youth in Italy. The food is simple and authentic. Her lemon cream cake is absolutely heavenly and I usually order it for dessert.

Sadly, Arturo died last week and the restaurant closed. I'm going to miss them terribly I have no way to get in touch with Simona to send her my sympathies. Of course, even if I could find her now, I could never ask her for her cake recipe at this point. It just would not be tactful.

So, I'm hoping that there are someone out there that know about Italian Lemon Cream Cake and have a great recipe that you might want to pass on. Thanks

Thanks...that first one looks delicious! Simona's cake is lemon based, not a white cake, but it has that fluffy cream in the center. It is also very tender and light and soooo lemony...perfect with an espresso.
