Default looking for recipe from old B.H.G. Good Food on a Budget

I had this book, "Good Food on a Budget" Better Holmes and Gardens back in the 70's when I got married. I used it and used it and LOVED it, and I must have mistakenly gotten rid of it when packing up to move back the the US a couple of years ago. Does ANYONE have that book, and would you be willing to just e-mail me a recipe for BBQ CHILE STEAK, using chuck steak. I remember some of the ingredients, but really want the actual recipe for the marinade. I just need the list of ingredients. I will be eternally grateful!! Thanks everyone!

have you tried Google (over 22 million hits for "recipe BBQ chili steak") ... the BH+G site is not user-friendly for searching!

Yes, I was hoping maybe someone here at it so I didn't have to spend hours on the computer trying to find that exact recipe-if it doesn't say from that book, I don't know if it will be the same. But, If no one here has it, I guess I will need to. I wanted it for tonight and I have to leave for the afternoon. I saw the book on Amazon-several available-but for now, I just wanted that one recipe.

Default found your book you are looking for.

    Hello,

I always look at Amazon.com when I am looking for any book. It is easy to search on the title, and I found the book you are looking for: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...od+on+a+Budget

Not sure if the link will work here. I saw a used copy of the book for $4

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, I found it too, but I really wanted the recipe first-needed to make it last night, but decided I would give it one more day in case someone here had the book and would look up that recipe for me. I plan to get the book, but just wanted that recipe before it came. Thanks!

    Default Barbecued Chili Steak

    Barbecued Chili Steak
    p. 9, Better Homes and Gardens "Good Food on a Budget"

    1/2 c. vinegar
    1/2 c. catsup
    2 T. cooking oil
    2 T. finely chopped onion
    2 t. chili powder
    1 t. salt
    1/8 t. pepper
3# beef chuck steak, cut 1 1/2 inches thick

Combine first 7 ingredients. Slash fat edges of meat. Place in a shallow dish. Pour vinegar-catsup mixture over steak. Let stand 3 hours at room temperature or overnight in refrigerator, turning steak several times. Drain steak, reserving marinade; pat dry with paper toweling.

Cook over hot coals about 20 minutes on each side for rare, or 25 minutes on each side for medium. Brush occasionally with the reserved marinade. Carve meat across grain in thin slices. Makes 6 servings.
