Apple Crisp
Butter a 9x12 cake pan. Add sliced apples. (I use 2 quarts frozen apples). In large bowl, cut 1 stick real butter into Betty Crocker Oatmeal Cookie Mix (envelope). Spoon over apples. Bake 35-45 minutes or until Top is golden brown.
DH and GS polished off half a pan tonight and the night is young, so they’ll most likely have 2nds and it will be history. |
I have the apples, but not Betty Crocker...and don't think my local Walmart carries...darn it! But sounds delish!

Clever! I have never thought of Oatmeal cookie mix. Thank you! Since I usually have to buy oatmeal anyway, next time I'll go straight to the cookie mix and skip a few steps.

That sounds really good.

Here's a great recipe. Always a crowd pleaser.
CARAMEL APPLE PUDDING 6 large cooking apples 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. water 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. flour 1/4 lb. butter 1 tsp. vanilla Dash of salt Few crushed nuts --Peel apples, slice thin. Put in shallow baking dish. Dissolve 1/2 c. sugar with 1/4 c. water and pour over apples. Mix as for pie crust, the flour , butter, brown sugar, and 1 tsp. vanilla. Spread over apples. Sprinkle dash of salt, a dash of cinnamon and nuts over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for about 50-60 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. |
Great idea. Nothing wrong with shortcuts....leaves more time for quilting!

If you are using tart apples like Granny Smith, then you do need some sugar or sugar replacement. However, a lot of the sweet apples, like Gala, Pink Lady, or Honeysweet will hold up really well when baked and are sweet enough where you need to use little or no sugar at all.
Sugar is my favorite food, but is my worse enemy. It exacerbates my psoriasis and reddens my face and puts weight on me. So I am looking for ways to make recipes without sugar. |
thanks to all. just made some apple crisp. i used two cans of apples (comstock brand) and oatmeal cookie mix. brown sugar, two small packets of granulated sugar on top. loved it! can be served with ice cream, by itself or with milk. all one's own choice. baked about 45 minutes.
