Ooops I meant 1/2 cup sugar next time not 3/4. 3/4 cup is okay if you like your cookies really sweet.

The golden syrup came yesterday, I took a spoon of it and it is addicting! There are no eggs in these cookies so you could eat the dough if you wanted. This is a keeper! I will cut the sugar down to half cup next time.

I might try cutting the sugar back a little the next time I make them. He likes them thin so I do smash the cookie batter down a little more before baking.

Agreed. Some baking recipes use just a few basic ingredients, most of which I always have handy.

I googled golden syrup for subs and found a recipe to make it by cooking sugar, adding something acidic and then adding corn syrup. Don't
remember if it said use the light or not.

Calls for golden syrup, but I just use a little corn syrup. Can use honey too.
Love it and thought some of you might want to give them a try.
Got some in the oven right now by the way.

Making my hobnob cookie recipe again....tried with a little less sugar last time. Didn't go over that well....he wants it sweet!
