Best Lit'l Smokies a fantasic appetizer for "Superbowl"

1 Attachment(s)
These have to be the easiest appetizer ever. Only 3 ingredients. No prep time.
2 pkgs Hillshire Farms beef lit'l smokies drained
1 bottle chili sauce 10 oz.
1 jar grape jelly 10-16 oz.
Place everything in the crock pot and heat for about 3 hours until sauce is blended and smokies are hot.
I know it sounds like an odd combination, but trust me, they are great. If you are serving a crowd, you may want to double the recipe. They go fast! Peggy

My sister made meatballs with one jar of chili sauce and one big can of peaches, chop peaches fine or whip them up in the food processor and cook till broke down.

Have done these with barbque sauce instead of chili sauce and they are great that way too.

I put my smokies in the crock pot and top them with a jar of Catalina salad dressing.

My Mom used to slice up kielbasi, sautee it and put the chili sauce and grape jelly on it and let it simmer for a while.
A real crowd pleaser! Is a Lit'l Smokie a hot dog? Never heard of them before.

Yes, they are little mini cocktail weinies made by Hillshire Farms.

I love them too. We make our own sauce - 1 cup ketchup, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup cider vinegar...delish!

All I can say is Yummmmy.

tmsrich 01-29-2012 05:57 PM

you can use the same combination with meatballs you but or make yourself! especially good with venison meatballs

Barbm 01-29-2012 06:48 PM

here's one with a bit of effort-

take a 1lb. of bacon, cut in half. take each half slice of bacon and wrap it around a little smokie. Place on a foil lined pan. Sprinkle brown sugar over them. bake at 350 degrees until bacon is crispy.

You will not be able to eat just one!

Twisted Quilter 02-05-2012 10:28 AM
